From the highlights card put out by the NFLPA that is getting **** upon by some players on social media it looks like the NFL is largely going to move weed to fine only. Though the wording sounded like if you tested positive as opposed to being arrested. Also sounded like they would slim the testing period to 2 months around training camp. Wonder how that effects some players who have had chronic problems with the chronic.

i thought i read it was 2 weeks around the start of camp, not 2 months. looks like the league is trying to minimize pot as an issue as long as there are no arrests. Keep it off company grounds, keep it quiet and everybody plays, revenue is generated, and everybody gets paid.

The NFL offered a better deal than I expected, but if I was a player I'd absolutely turn it down. The NFL wants a 17th game BAD and the players should try to get another 0.5-1% of the revenue.

And guaranteed contracts. The only North American pro sports league without them.

Communication 101, the guy portrays himself as a thug. Who would listen to him if he weren't a professional football player......... I mean other than those who are professional football players.

His time is nearly up and it will be nearer up if he doesn't get his snap projectery under better control.

As a union guy, I want to see the players get every cent. As a fan, I know guaranteed contracts could cripple team building with a salary cap.

Level playing field. Teams would have to give guaranteed contracts but then they wouldn't be as long.

Always thought his brother played the evil twin. Hanging with Hernandez and all.

Screaming on social media to get your point across..... He has been watching too much AB footage

I like the level of guarentee they have in the contract as it is. A guy like AB could cripple you. Plus with the amount of injury in the game you could break the bank on a guy and he never plays a down. I don't like the 17th game at all. Its gonna create greater imbalanced schedules within divisions. 8 4 team divisions. 16 games is a perfect number math wise. 6 Division Games. 4 Non Conference games. 6 Conference games. Perfect symmetry.

So you can juice up and get stoned all year minus a few weeks. Brilliant!

I'm not a fan of unions whatsoever for reasons I won't go into. After watching assclowns like AB dick us and several teams over there would definitely be some circumstances on guaranteed money and being on the hook when they should be clear of his bs against the cap.

I agree. If anything I'd like to see some language about litigation out of a contract and its guarantees for conduct detrimental to the organization.

As I have said many times before, this is the time to dramatically increase Roster size...

Go to three preseason games, make the first no vet who was on the 53 man roster and is off their rookie contract can play more than one quarter

Make the last 6 quarters long but no one can play in more than three quarters

Add 4 regular season games, drop the bye week and instead cap the amount of games a player may be active for at 15 or 16... of the four or five weeks inactive each player can use two or three as total vacation weeks where they don’t need to practice or anything

Then add to the roster size to make this work

Pay the players 50% to 52% of the current revenue streams and 55% of whatever increase the added four games brings... the owners still make out like bandits, the players get real midseason rest, injures are mitigated more and it adds drama and layers of strategy to the season

A-N-D less likely to be as high an amount of $$$$$ as in the past.

The REAL revenue stream is from TV contracts. The "John Q" fan is fantasy football revenue and this would be to complicated for the average FF to figure out, thus droping viewership and hurting TV contracts.

Sarcasm or not............ FAIL

It's to physical to have guaranteed contracts.

They are increasing the roster sizes and practice squad sizes, so there's extra jobs. They got rid of the 250K cap on the 17th game.

Someone on twitter broke down the revenue the players get in other sports and this CBA is right on par with the revenue the players get in other leagues.

Millionaires complaining and whining on social media never goes over well.

are players paid less during pre-season?

while the owners want a 17-game season, they're also reducing the pre-season games by one. thus, there is no "adding" a game to the schedule, just one less game that doesn't count and one more that does. 20 games either way.

No it doesn't. The average person out busting his *** won't have much empathy. Honestly the lowest contract of say a punter is worth millions. Unless you're an idiot one single contract can set you up for life.

I always though the owners should have agreed to an salary cap limit on players by position. as in the most a qb can make is X amount wide receiver x amount etc. the way it is going now their will be a qb making 40-50 million a year soon.

They're also lowering the the length of training camp, using one week as an acclimation week. Lowering the number of padded practices also.

I don’t think players are paid at all for preseason games other than a per diem when traveling. Salaries are divided by 17 for each week of the season including the bye week.

I believe that is correct. But the ones who will play the games that season. The ones that aren't camp bodies and fringe players just happy to make the roster and pick up league minimum slary are all ready past the point of having their full salary guaranteed for the season. If you make it to Camp, you get all your cake. the 17 weeks are just for payroll purpose.

Rookie per diem:*"A first-year player will receive 'per diem' payments, commencing with the first day of Preseason Training Camp and ending one week prior to the Club’s first regular season game." In 2018, that weekly rate is $1,075*

They are paid, when they negotiate their contract, it is for the ENTIRE season. How it's divided up is irrelevant other than what the contract says. Maybe the the signing bonus is a part of compensating for later actual pay-checks as the games are played. Maybe the player needs to budget just a little, maybe just maybe I might feel sorry a little bit..................NOT.

The LOWEST paid player is still making a very good salary compared to the average "JOE" and when Joe gets a job he don't get no "compensation" until his first pay check. Stipen(s) will get them by and it's more than the average "JOE" would make so sack it up.
