I have been a fan of this team for right at fifty years. I love the chief, and I know deep down he would not stand for the **** going on right now, not only with this team but with the NFL in general. There was a time when we had the most powerful owners in the league; now it seems like we're a joke.

I wish Dan would have just sold this team when all the **** went down over his brothers. We need someone that really loves the Steelers not just the money. That billionaire that lived in the burgh that wanted to buy the Steelers might have been the best thing that could've happened to this team.

I still love this team, but I am to the point that I hate what the Rooneys stand for football wise. Never thought in a million years I would feel this way much less say it out loud. Sad day in the Smith house......

When the Rooney's let Goodell sweep spygate under the rug was when it started for me. I thought they(Rooney family) owed us fans to get to the bottom of it all. They were more worried about the brand than their fan base. I guess you can't blame them, but that was my moment when I realized that they were just another set of owners. Nothing more. Nothing less.

It is just typical business operations when kids inherit the company.

1st generation struggles to put the business together, works their *** off and makes mistakes while steadily improving the business. Is able to eventually give their family a better life, and a working business to the next generation.

2nd generation grows up in the business and learns from generation #1’s mistakes. Was expected to work just as hard as the owner while growing up. While the 2nd generation was expected to do everything, was never given the reins early. Worked hard and developed a slight bit of resentment because of not getting to take charge when they felt they should be able to.

3rd generation grows up in an affluent family, and is never made to work as hard as #1 made #2. Growing up #3 is around the business, but more as a spectator. They are given the opportunity to do what they want, and miss all of the years of learning and development of a work ethic to run the business. Eventually #3 comes into the business after their other half assed attempts fail. By the time they get involved, they do it more for the money, and much less than prior generations. As the years go by, the business declines and eventually folds.

It is sad.

Since 2011 the Steelers and Pirates have had 3 playoff wins.

And this last year their free agent approach reminded me of the Pirates. ****** bottom barrel pick ups /decisions.

They force a SS to FS and bring nobody in for positional competition.
They reach on a SS in the draft. And bring in another inury prone declining SS to compete,
They bring in a run defending ILber not a coverage ILBer, and drop him in coverage.
They have a WR deficiency and don't bring one in, sitting on Bell's money.
They don't upgrade CB opposite Haden.
They ride with Ridley even though there is upgrades available.

Tombert is making some horrific decisions, and this Nutting approach isn't cutting it.

Rooney for allowing this shitshow shows they are happy with their deep pockets, and care little what is taking place in front of our eyes.

The last thing you want as a sports team is to be able to be compared to the Pirates.

That is the under performance that Steelersnation bares witness to.

The Rooney name is no longer a name that stands out. It is just another owner who is all about the money and pleasing the right people. I believe it will only get worse, unfortunately.

We had a lot of respect for Dan but I know nothing of Art II. Does he have a business degree or any sort of experience with running a company? I don't even recall seeing him in an interview..Does he have "it" or is he just next in line in the family business and lets others make the tough decisions?

He's a lawyer. That's pretty much all I know.

Honestly I dont think money has even a little bit to do with this. My guess is Art said to Dan and Dan said to Art 2. Dont listen to the fan. Do what you think is right. The fan is fickle. Problem is that it feels like sometimes they go too far to prove the fans wrong.

**** those limousine liberals! I agree, sell it to someone who wants to win. They should have fired Tomlin many seasons ago. They don’t give a ****. This year we finally beat the Patriots and they pissed it all away.

Wait, the Chief wouldn't stand for this? The guy that went 39 years without a postseason victory? The same guy that let his buddies coach, trade away draft picks, and cut the likes of Johnny Unitas and Len Dawson? And Dan watched Marino grow up in his own backyard and did nothing to get him drafted. Look, Tomlin has big issues, but the romanticising and crying in here is a bit much.

In sales when the decision maker says I'm all set or good, you MUST challenge that person by saying your loyalty may be costing your organization, you either get a hang-up or more than likely a pause and how do you figure if you have done your homework and earned some initial respect.

Its here when the rubber hits the road. Kevin Colbert loyalty and body of work is unquestioned. He might be able to make this case to Art. It won't be easy. Billionaire's hate being wrong and often double or triple down before making the change.

Kevin, it's up to you.

Loved beating the pats but, lets face it...they're a mere shadow of what they once were.

I think it would be a cold day in hell before the Steelers are owned by someone outside the Rooney family. Not sure we would have made it through the 80s drought but looking back, Noll took his teams to more playoffs than I recall. They had 6 playoff appearances in the 80s and were 2-4. A far cry from their stretch in the 70s but not a total drought.

1989 Playoffs
WildCard W
Division L

1984 Playoffs
Division W
ConfChamp L

1983 Playoffs
Division W

1982 Playoffs
WildCard L

I've heard Art II speak, he is very well spoken, and is very calm and collected, unfortunately he's done exactly what you're saying he didn't, he learned from his father and grandfather, isn't going to make any knee jerk reactions and is going to stick with continuity.

At this point it wouldn't be a knee-jerk reaction. Plenty of seasons of fail to look back on.

Time for a change big small I don’t give a **** but they are wasting having ben and it’s getting old. Love Ben or hate ben I don’t care but he has shown to be capable of winning super bowls and this team should be in the runn8ng every year he’s here. It should not fuking be the “defense” that’s the fuking weak spot on this team. we are the Pittsburgh Steelers for Christ’s sakes!!!! We wrote the book on this!!! You line up and you hit the ******** on the other side of the ball in the mouth and you keep hitting!! Fire all ******** who don’t fuking get that! The eagles understood that last year they won the Super Bowl! Tomlin Colbert butler just don’t fuking seem to get that! This is football not rocket fuking science! Time to starting firing coaches, scouts, whoever else it takes!

Being a Steeler fan since 1961 I never thought the Steelers would have two winning seasons in a row let alone Championship Being at Super Bowl 9 and watching the exuberance of the Steeler fans after wining as well as watching the players leaving the field, was something I will never forget.. Listening to all the turmoil this year with Bell, now Brown and seeing once more a team fall flat on its face is just not right. I wonder if this Rooney and his decision is a big factor Square jaw left coaching the Steelers. How Rooney can not see that Tomlin lacks to many abilities to be a head coach. Just because you can lay out a good speech before and after a game and you look forward to challenges does not make you what a head coach needs to be to win. Yes his record of wins is nice but what has Tomlin produced with those wins and how many wins has he left in the locker room at half time, or before a game even begins. After this week shipwreck something needs to change .

Tomlin only looks good because Ben makes him look good. It will not continue after Ben. I hope Ben gets a good coach to finish his career with.

To broad and vague.

#1. Read Dan Rooney’s book

#2. Recognize Dan dropped the ball in the 80s and learned the hard way

Loved beating the pats but, lets face it...they're a mere shadow of what they once were.

I still think the team needs their identity and tradition from the top down.
The early-mid 2000 Steelers created their own identity. I remember reading the team wanted to get out of the shadows of the 70's era
and spark their own dynasty.

History and legacy will always be there.
Franchises flow with the times and create their own dynasty for their era.

The talent on the roster is there to do it.
It's on the higher ups on how they choose to manage and shape this talent.

As of right now it looks like Art is loyal and content with Tomlin's mismanagement of the talent.

After watching them through the good and the bad for so many years, with the amount of talent they have had are you surprised they have "only" won 2 Super Bowls in the 39 years since their last SB under Noll?

People say we as Steeler fans are spoiled and expect to win every year. (yes we do), but what about ownership? Are they spoiled as well and expect that we will always be there to spend our money no matter the product they produce? I say yes they are, and yes they do. Art ll doesn't give a **** about the fans; he hears the talking heads say we are the best fans in the world, they see our fans pack out other stadiums. It is all about the money I truly don't think Art ll gives a **** whether we win another SB or not as long as the money keeps pouring in.
