He was just released by the 49ers, worth a flyer? Vince Williams has been rather underwhelming.

He’s super damaged goods. Hasn’t really been the same after his knee injury.

I wondered about that. He sure was awesome in his prime, though.

OTOH, we are 31st in Yards per Rush play in the league. OTOOH, 49ers are 0-5 with him...OTOOOH, 49rs are 19th in Rush yards per game and 8 in Rush yards per play. On the final hand, 49ers are 22nd in ppg allowed and we are 6th. That may indicate that Bowman was not the problem.

I didn't read any articles about why they let him go.

I was looking around to see why they let him go after 5 games, but just read it was a mutual agreement. Also said his agent put it out to all 31 other teams and there were zero takers. Hmmmmmmmm! Just wonder if that knee is the issue or John Lynch? “Niners general manager John Lynch said Bowman requested his release.” (NFL.com, 2017).
Maybe we kick the tires? Hmmmmm?!

49ers are in rebuild mode. They are going young everywhere and Bowman was unhappy with playing time. Steelers should absolutely go after him. He has some injuries and may have lost a step but could still handle 3-4 ILB, especially if he’s in a run stuffing role.

After his first injury, he turned in an All-Pro season the following year in '15. However, I haven't watched a whole lot of San Francisco this season to give a fair opinion.

He played 4 games last year, I think.

Raiders sign former 49ers LB Navorro Bowman

Raiders signed ILB Navorro Bowman, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year, $3 million contract.

He never even made it to Dallas. Still a useful run defender, Bowman will add toughness to a weak Oakland inside linebacker corps. He is a liability in pass coverage, however, and had been losing passing-down snaps before the 49ers released him
