My favorite Bus moment.

That is my favorite moment too. He ran him over like Urlacher wasn't there.

My favorite moment was meeting him in the lobby of the Hilton. .talking to him and having him wait in the lobby while I got my kids so we could get a picture with him..what a great man he is..congrats Mr Bettis

2nd favorite moment is announcing his retirement after the Super Bowl in his hometown.

BuS has too many great moments to choose just one, but one that will stick in my mid was vs the Rats and it was an inside run over the Left Guard and Ed Reed came right up and met Bettis helmet to helmet and he ran right over Ed Reed and kept on going....it's on this highlight reel at the 2:10 sec mark....check it out it's brutal....Reed was in lala land after that one...being run over by a BuS!

Also in that Bears game earlier in the game BuS had his last big gain run of his career when he went through a hole on the left side for about 50 yds....I remember Hilgrove screamin...."THE BUS IS LOOSE" and Tunch & Billy were so jacked up...hoping he'd make it to the endzone but he was run down from behind but it was still a great run....I have a picture of it mounted on my wall in the Man Cave of that run.

Loved every minute of Bettis's career....the guy near gave me a heart attack in 2006 when he fumbled in that Colts game.....I seriously blacked out after that fumble for about 2 plays....all I remember was McFadden knocking the ball out of a receiver's hands in the endzone as Peyton took a shot deep....before Vanderjagt came on to miss the final kick.

Congrats to Bettis on making the Hall of Fame.

This is my desktop background at work! Also fav: bus gets knocked out of bounds, jumps over some equipment, then lands on opponents bench and relaxes for a split second!

Ahhh.....when football was football. great video.

those were great times...

Running over Urlacher was great but not his best play. Favorite play is any one where a Raven gets trucked.
I remember a few years ago there was a survey of the toughest feats in sports. Number one was hitting a major league curveball. Number two was tackling Jerome Bettis.

Nothing like a RB that has the horsepower of Bussie....and feet that could dance around and make people miss. I always loved to watch a 190 lb CB come up and wuss out at the last second because they knew what would happen.

I love that we have finally gotten our running game back with Bell, but with Bettis the other team knew we were going to run and most of the time they couldn't stop it. That is still how you win football games. Total domination.

My favorite as well, we made a run from that game on. The picture running over Urlacker hangs proudly in our Steeler room.

Even at the end, he knew his role, but was a leader nonetheless. Those games were he had three carries for three yards and three touchdowns showed greatness, too. Also, Super Bowl XL, his last carry when he didn't get the first down, but he was spinning and driving, I forget which lineman he ran into, but I always thought about how great it would have been to catch his balance and make a big run to close out that game. Aw well, at least he got there and got the ring to cap his career.

One moment that will always resonate in my mind is October '97, when Pittsburgh came back to beat Jacksonville in OT @ Three Rivers. Bus took that shovel pass from Kordell and rumbled into the endzone, I had to be the happiest 16 yr old kid in America at that moment

Props to the Bettis. He personified physical football and was the face of the franchise for a decade.

Though I view him more as a HOVGer, I do not think Bettis making the HOF is the abomination that 80% of non Steelers fans seem to think.

One of the most memorable games for me was the very year we struck the deal with the Rams to acquire Bettis giving up a 2nd pick and a 4th rounder the following year (one of the best draft moves in Steelers history).

The Steelers faced the Rams later that year in '96 at Three Rivers and Bettis treated their defense like a hot knife through butter. At the end of the first quarter, he had two rushing touchdowns including a memorable 50 yard run where he simply outran their defense. By the half, he had already amassed 110 yards before leading the Steelers to a 42 - 6 thrashing of his former team.

I remember that well....

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm of the State of Michigan declared February 1, 2006 to be Jerome Bettis Day... so he gets into the Hall and celebrates his hometown holiday...lol

Lots a great Bus moments, and one near fatal heart attack inducing play.

One of my favorites is from 1997. We were in a dogfight with the Jags for the AFC Central crown. Late season game against the Jags at Three Rivers went to OT, and Jerome won the game with like a 45 yard TD run that gave us the division lead.

Any of those 10-25 yard runs in which it seemed like the entire team tried to tackle him and they got run over. I miss that a lot. I will take that type of football over 3-5 yard passes any day.

Retiring in front of your hometown stadium, at super bowl 40, and raising the trophy in front of the crowd. And being part of it..
