MVS Plans to Sign with Steelers

If they think that the need another savior, go grab one of the better UFL receivers. Cheap, young, maybe good, whatever.

Truth is, that this team is beyond fixing for the time being, so they can go get shrek as an RB and it wouldn't help.

Very solid move.
Kid got two rings ..
Good veteran that excels at top of route tree.. not too bad with the 50-50 ball also.
We needed a wide out like that..provides a good mix within current group.
Not sure where the optimism is coming from. He came into the league in 2018 and has had 7 games and 1 playoff game with 5 catches or more. The most he has had in his career has been 7 catches which happened once. I think he only cracked 6 catches 3-4x. His best game was probably a playoff game where he had 6 catches for 119. He had 7 games where he broke 100yrds, most of those had a 60+ yrd TD in them. For his career he is averaging 32.5 yrds / game. Just for reference Austin is averaging 23 yrds / game.

When did Pittsburgh Steelers become the NFL's retirement village?

Two things stand out, apart from him being another OAP:

1. He was at Green Bay when Rodgers was; and
2. He has 209 receptions on 422 targets. Over 300 of those targets would have been from prime and just past prime Aaron Rodgers (including 2 MVP years).

Until they run into teams with great defenses.
The same thing that will happen to a defense when it runs into a great offense. Advantage is with offenses.

Having said that, this team with this move is not to be taken seriously.

Keeping throwing busted up, past their prime and never was players at the wall…brilliant!

1) I heard he sucks being already on the train
2) he has to jump on the slow moving train
3) can he call a defensive game or cover

Effin pointless move if it happens that doesn’t move the needle from 9-8 a bit.

I’d wonder wtf are they doing, but I already know
They are always trying " to not mortgage the future." To which I ask: WHAT FUTURE? More middle of the pack shenanigans?

Bring in a real wide out and let's go for it all.

The other thing that may have factored into this signing is the pectoral injury to Seumalo. It takes away Calvin Anderson away from the Big Package with Washington. Seumalo could miss a few games and now they need to change direction unless they have someone else who can play LG. With the defense being as soft as it is and Rodgers playing at a high level, they need to open up the offense more and try and put more points on the board.

Very good point Shane.
I truly believe without that injury Sunday night, the Steelers come out on top of this one. Taking away that jumbo package part of our offense really hampered our ability the rest of the game to be successful, putting points on the board.
Also, I believe the organization realizes the defense is what it is especially now with the injury to Elliot.
And sometimes the best defense is a great offense.

I hear yaz Falco, unless they are willing to bring in a BIG “trade for” WR, there will not be an available impact WR as we sit. Anyone on the scrap heap is NOT going to be enough to make a difference. We already have enough scrap heap current rostered WRs.

As for LG, you just need someone close and a vet PS signee (ours or others/ possible scrap heap) would be enough.

This “D” is a whole n’other wildcat sinking ship of help needed, both player and coaching.

Salute the nation

You make a great point.

Do you think the Steelers FO, staff and coaching ranks can understand this in the same way you just articulated?

(forgetting that the loss of an interior lineman should not hamstring any properly designed NFL team)

This was a IR move that did not get much attention, but it was a critical one. This guy would’ve been a great replacement going forward.

One man's trash is another man's treasure?? We are great at traveling to the island of misfit toys to recover careers! Here we are again. Biggest issue on this team? Anyone wanna guess? I am going with the sad defense, scheme not players, but age is not our friend.

So what is strategy to get us in the playoffs? A WR that has been signed and cut by so many teams.

This is confirmation it is the leadership!

Just another WR3/4/5, and just when Roman is taking advantage of his opportunities. I can't see him getting a hat each week unless they do something stupid and take away Roman's hat.

I think it is possible that Arthur Smith and Aaron Rodgers may have influenced this signing being aware of what is in front of them. I think Smith is more aware of what his personnel situation is than he’s given for. For the sake of hypotheticals, if they do indeed trade for a guy for WR2 (albeit Meyers or St Thomas or whomever), I do see Smith along with Rodgers adjusting the offense to that personnel as long as HCMT does not get in the way.

The Saints are apparently open to trading Shaheed. He has 39 catches and 430yrds with no QB. He has averaged almost 50 yrds / gm for his career. I think he would be way better than Scantling

Sadly the biggest issue is the highest paid D in the league.

I’m not sure how trading assets away for a duct tape WR2 helps that over paid over hyped defensive unit.

They apparently want a 3rd for him. He isn't worth any more than a 5th. Now, I can see someone giving them a 3rd for Olave even with his concussion issues, but I hope it's not the Steelers. They seem to be snakebit recently with their trades.

Just to give proper credit Spencer Anderson was the Anderson making the heavy set go in the run game. Calvin is the backup from NE that saw about 10 snaps this year I think mostly on the OL.

Not sure Calvin Anderson blocking in space is something any of us really want to see.

You can't fix the D at this point. You could bring in Dion Sanders in his prime and if the other DBs are still not communicating what good does it do?

Just look at the Packers game. If just one(or even better 2) of those 3 early field goals is 7 instead, it changes the whole complexion of the game.

Instead take DK away, single cover the other guys and our offense stalls in the red zone. Bring in another play maker and watch Rodgers light up the scoreboard.

That other receiver will free the tight end up or if we want to run it will help that as well, it's the same effect in the red zone.

Defense still wins championships most of the time.
Not as much as a necessity any longer in the NFL.
I believe the Steelers are just doing what they think they need to do to stay competitive and possibly pull this division out this season.
If that happens, which would be great, then they can focus on maybe pulling in one playoff win out of their hat. Or should I say helmet?
