Brock Bowers had 112 as a rook, he’ll get 50+ unless he gets hurt.

Tre Mcbride has nearly as many receptions and yards as Pat's entire career in the past 2 seasons.
The numbers are the numbers and pat is middle of the road at best.

I’m really ****-ing glad you didn’t throw that TV out the window as I was walking by eating pudding made in the box. I didn’t want the fear of having to put it back into the box.

Reality is either Harris or Muth swhould have been CREED. I was elevated in temperament as I watched not just one, but also a second pass on him. Creed has been pro-bowl his entire career including rookie starting.

Najee is long gone and Muth has yet to take it over the top. Jesse James is more famous for one play than Muth is for his career. I know, I know…….. that’s not how good players are determined, but none the less it is true.


Muth is here and I’m fully on board for his success. That success will be determined on the Arthur Smith new offense.

I blinked (at the throwing the tv out the window) cut my eyelids off and drenched the wound thoroughly with some barrel aged bourbon.

If you need a real hand in the pile guy I’ll roll my sleeves up and help get that pudding back in the box, we’ll do whatever it takes…leave no stone unturned and things of that nature.

Muth’s ascension to a top tier TE and the TEs in general should be a huge component of the success of these men…so indeed we’ll
Root him on to another victorious season.

The train has left the station, it’s a steep downhill grade, the brakes don’t work and 10,000 tons of Steel is headed way down the tracks and nothing’s gonna bring back the road kill kitty cats, ratbirds or piles of brown **** this locomotive is about to come crashing through. A Superb will be awaiting the conductor as the train comes crashing into N’awlins.

Good conversation with you and Mad. I might add a couple stats left out on those first two seasons of each.
PF- had 177 balls thrown his way.
HM- had 107. Huge difference.

Many of us (including myself) have been yelling for more attempts to Pat. But actually he does get quite a few attempts. It’s that all important lack of throwing to the middle that befuddles us.

I like Pat. I think he could be elite, but obviously QB play OLine play and scheme has held him back. I actually think we are lucky he signed a second contract. With the QB players he has had over his career,and the search still continues next season,he could have picked a far more stable organization offensively for I’m quite sure the same or more money. And I guarantee you he scratched his head a bit when they got Jonnu.

When we compare PF to HM let’s never forget HM was one of the best all around TE’s in the game. His blocking was outstanding which is a huge part of being a TE. Not just a glorified WR.

Jonnu can line up in every position,creating a mismatch. He’s an incredible athlete. It’s going to be interesting to see how many targets our 3 TE’s have at the end of this season.

Edit…..I forgot one other important stat. Interestingly enough when I think of Heath…..I think of all the first down connects he had. His first 4 seasons 105 first downs. Pat had 120 in his first four. But once again….Heath had 234 targets…Pat 320.

Yes, heath miller was woefully underused in the passing game... I believe the Steelers leader for TE targets in a season was Eric Green in 93.. i could be wrong, but he had 113 targets... that season and the year Heath got 101 targets are, i think, the only two seasons a steelers tight end had over 100 targets...
Thats pretty pathetic.. good Tes can see over 150 targets on other teams.. and quality pass-catchers are frequently over 100 targets... some have double digit seasons over 100 targets... the Steelers just dont scheme TEs as targets as much as other teams do, so Heath and Muth dont get the chances others do...


Muth has 302 targets in 4 years.

Sam Laporta has 203 in 2 seasons
Trey McBride has 292 in 3 years.
George Kittle had 369 in his first 4 years but also was super injured his 4th year.. he had 136 targets in his second year, and 107 in his third despite missing a couple games...

Basically Friermuth was 18th in TE targets per game last year... if we want more out of him, we need to get that number up into the top ten

Totally agree Mad. Even the Heath years I was yelling for more balls thrown his way. In his era they had hugely productive TE’s that got tons of targets Of course he was such a valuable asset blocking,which makes a difference.

Your list shows offensively minded teams that actually go for it. CMT’s “we never live in our fears” talk is absolutely BS when it comes to the offense.
But no matter what…we need that QB that can throw the ball. Shall be an interesting season.
