I think this has more to do with Tomlin's ability to manage men and grow a culture. Tomlin is no stranger to hiring former HC's and if he was a lesser character individual, his age and inexperience should have been an issue. Now He's employed 4 former head coaches and he's starting to create an impressive coaching tree with Ariens (possibly more impressive than Cowher's), though Whiz did make it to a Superbowl.

Just interesting to consider.

Funny that those kinds of skills are never considered by some as being more valuable than clock management or sideline demeanor.
