Smart move. With the talent on offense they have right now, If they succeed, he writes his ticket to a new head coaching gig.

A) the cursory "This thread is useless without photos" statement.

B) Todd has been a head coach. It's like being the President... Why do you want all the headaches and the bitching when you can get a good salary with 1/4 the workload and all the glory? If I were ever elected to a Presidency or Vice Presidency - 1 Term Baby! In and Out. Then collect that lifetime check Suckers!

You deal with this ****!

I hope Todd stays for as long as we have a QB that works really really well with him. Those two (and yes, I enjoy the irony of the following statement) have great chemistry.

Only thing, he was a head coach once already and didn't do so well. Some of that may be attributable to ownership though. Some guys are just better at being a #2.

A lot of people make the mistake of taking the first gig that makes them an offer... Haley did that when he bolted to the chiefs.. And got stuck benieth a conniving GM that didnt really want him.

Whiz famously left a offer from the Raiders on the table and came back to the Steelers OC position.. I mean would you rather commit career suicide taking a scrub job like the browns as your second hc shot when your first was miserable, or wait till the right job comes by and increase your value?

Did he receive an offer this year? Haley is a re-tread coach who bombed out in Kanas City. They became good when he left.

I'm not sure he'll ever get a chance to be a head coach again. He's got Ben, but we saw what type of coach he was when Ben was out.

Are you Nuts?

Based on his time in KC you don't think he'd get another chance?? After the success he's shown with the Steelers and THIS Offense you've got to be high to think no one would consider him as HC material.

What time do you start drinking alcoholic beverages???

Please tell me what team has interviewed ( Not hired ) Haley for the head coaching position during his tenure here.

This year alone 7 new head coaches were hired. I'm giving you Haley's tenure as our OC.

If you can't find any teams that interviewed Haley for their top spot, then my point stands.

The Kansas City team hated Haley, and Ben spoke out against him initially. Some of Haley's play calls with Ben out were awful. Were you watching them?

Our offense has so much talent, I think any garden variety NFL offensive coordinator could do nearly as well or better.

The only thing you do not know for certain, is how many interview offers were given to and declined by Hailey?

For some reason though, making the playoffs hurts a DC/OC candidate from interviewing for a promotion. I believe only one playoff coordinator was hired and the rest were interior promotions or retreads. This is a factor why the NFL is not improving much on the HC front.

My take is this. Teams can make a very quiet offer to any OC, even in the playoffs. That OC coach is usually hired after the season ends, after his team losses in the playoffs. Sometimes it's an open secret when he's coaching in the super bowl.

There must have been 20+ head coaches hired during Haley's tenure. Just saying. The media has not sniffed one offer.

Bermuda owes me a long island iced tea if he can't produce one example where Haley was talked to or interviewed for the head coaching job

To further validate the link, he does have every opportunity to refuse an interview. He may be like cowher is now in the sense that he likes where he's at. Also, when Miami cut ties with philbin in the middle of the season, rumors were hot and heavy that they had a great deal of interest in Haley as the head coach. Plus, it's not like the coaching hires this year were spectacular. It's a pretty uninspiring new group of coaches.

Yes, he failed as head coach in Kansas City. That doesn't mean that he wouldn't get another chance at another organization if he helps the Steelers win the Super Bowl. And yes, some people are better at being #2, but many of those people believe they should be #1.

I think this has more to do with Tomlin's ability to manage men and grow a culture. Tomlin is no stranger to hiring former HC's and if he was a lesser character individual, his age and inexperience should have been an issue. Now He's employed 4 former head coaches and he's starting to create an impressive coaching tree with Ariens (possibly more impressive than Cowher's), though Whiz did make it to a Superbowl.

Just interesting to consider.

The other thing you have to consider -- how frivolous some of the NFL Owners can be.

All it takes is 1 owner that 'likes what they see' and an offer will be coming shortly.

I can't wait to meet Mrs. Haley...

It seems that Mrs. Haley's pics have been scrubbed from the internets but she's not just hot, she's like fashion-model-on-the-cover-of-Glamour-Magazine-hot. I seriously mean that as a compliment to the Toddster.
