great article Stiffler

Saw some good desire from a few layers last night. Made plays when needed not 100 percent but some players stood out

The first couple of series on offense and defense were very vanilla. Without having played any preseason games- there needed to be some adjustment periods. I’m glad they got it out of the way. Conner looked very unconfident in his running. I think the ankle injury is nothing more than loser pain. He hits he gap tall and doesn’t lower his body. He tries to imitate Lev Bell. Except Bell understood when to lower and go. Conner tried to dance and stand tall. Snell hit the hole with authority and showed some hitting capability. His ability to lower and punch through and fight for yardage is way better than Conner. He reminded me of Ray Rice. I look to see Snell getting the nod even after Conner gets clears by the gynecologist.

Claypool looked as advertised. He made the catches thrown his way. His first catch has Jerry Rice smiling. The negative I saw last night was lack of presence in the red zone with Claypool and Ebron. Perhaps that was by design for games down the road. Washington show meddle on that TD. He fought hard for the end zone and deserves to be on the field as much as he can be. His route running looked like Hines. Very improved and he is also a force to be reckoned with. Juju played well. I thought Ray Ray looked good on his only KR. Saw his shot, and ran north with authority. I wonder how is PR ability is. I don’t think Johnson is the answer.

I liked what I saw out of the defense. Bush played lights out in the middle. He was sideline to sideline quick. Dupree played like a madman and the secondary seemed to start settle and adjusted accordingly as the game progressed. I agree in an earlier thread someone mentioned Edwards. He needs to get those hands hip. He’s getting caught in coverage.

Not expecting Ebron and Claypool to be red zone threats out of the gates. Both are getting used to this offense. As is Ben...

So...you think they will be used properly? That was my hunch after thinking about the game.

Sure Ebron probably sooner than Clay. Although Clay showed some promise. Ebron knows how to be veteran so I would think his learning period would be quicker out of the gates.

Funny that with no preseason games they win the opening game.
