Monday Crucial for Bell and Steelers

Good. Pay him. Let him play his last season here and be done with him. He is selfish and greedy. So much drama - it does no good for the TEAM. Let him go elsewhere and see how he does behind a line other than ours. He is not worth 6 or 7 mil more per year than Gurley and some others. I hope the Rooneys let him go - let this season be his last in Black and Gold. No loyalty, no gratitude, just selfishness.

Yep. Let a player that has a team first attitude run behind this line. Also I hope they let the players that put all the time in training camp and preseason get snaps during the regular season. And not just hand the rock to Bell 20 plus times a game for 45 yards. If it takes Bell 5 games to get back into football shape so be it. Split the careers. Reward the guys that put the sweat and work in. Connor has a season under his belt. Hopefully that makes a difference this year with his own(Connor) preparation. We need to see what Connor has .....or doesn't have.

The really stupid part is that I highly doubt they are much more than two million apart per season. So on a 5 year deal we are talking about 10 million (and I highly suspect it is less than that). Not nothing, and I'm certainly not diminishing that as it is many times what I will earn in a lifetime. But I think if he hadn't played the contract game and kept the love of the fans, that money could be made in other ways. Hell they might have even bought his ****** rap songs.

I fully suspect he'll make it up next year with so many teams that have a ridiculous amount of cap space, but it's too bad he didn't take the deal they offered last year. It seemed to blow away anyone else at the position.

Money next year won't be an issue. He will have several suitors no doubt. With one important caveat. He doesn't get injured. If he hurts his knee say, he is looking at 25% less than he would have made signing this season.

truth. and he's getting closer to that 30 year-old drop off for RBs. He's already had two season-ending injuries out of 5 seasons. After this year, he'll be three short years to being 30. It's not in the Steelers best interest to sign him past 4 years. 5 at most, as long as his salary dwindles down or he's able to be cut after he starts dropping off.

Bell is great, but by no means is he the last of the RBs to ever play for us. For all we know, Jaylen Samuels could wind up doing as well as Bell has, when it's all said and done. Hell, we could even snag a RB in free agency next year or the draft who could step in without much drop-off. While our window is closing, we shouldn't necessarily sacrifice our long-term future for one player. Brown's aging, Ben's closer to retirement and we saw that when Ben misses games that neither Brown nor Bell can take over.

God I hope Jaylen Samuels turns out to be a diamond in the rough

Basically they are 1-2 million apart per year, which is 8-20 million total.

Don’t make the same mistake OKC did by letting James Harden walk over 5 million

Apples and oranges. Harden is 20 percent of the lineup in the NBA. Steelers could sign 2-3 solid/good players for what Bell wants (btw, I hope the two sides get a deal done).

He’s playing on the team this year. You’re not going to cheer for him? Please.

Maybe you don't comprehend the idea but it is not necessary to cheer individual players to root for " your team '.

I know for a fact that I am not alone in the opinion that AB is a self centered ******* but that doesn't mean I want him to play bad.

According to the article, Bell wants all the money guaranteed, and that's not going to happen. The FO isn't stupid, not so sure about the RB.

HA, HA, our left leaning friends on the P&R side should take that attitude.

Just curious, is it until the stroke of midnight tomorrow night they have to work out a deal?

I find it very hard to believe that the Steelers and Bell are anywhere near close if he is wanting the whole or close to most of it guarenteed. That simply will not happen unless we are talking about 4 years 10 million per year. Which we are not.

If you don’t want Le’Veon Bell as our RB, and you “forgot” or “don’t care”, you could be retarded. Pay that man his money.

GLAD you are NOT running the team,........retarded or not

Can we just franchise tag and then trade him for some linebackers?

Adam Schecter is reporting it is unlikely the deal will get done, great news !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

They offered him an average of $13.3 million per in last years offer. They went up some this year but aren't up to where Bell said things need to start of $14.5 million per. My guess is they offered him a little less than $14 million per and he is saying FU again this year. Both offers are tremendous contracts for him to be turning down.

I am curious to see what Bell would get on another team. I feel that he will not get anywhere near what he thinks. When AP was in his prime he was the only offensive weapon and he could still torch defenses. Bell is good on the steelers because our OL is good, we have great talent at QB and WR, and he just gets a ton of touches. He doesnt break long runs and does not run for great YPC. He is way over inflating his value to both the steelers and to the rest of the league. I dont want to see them waste any money on this clown. 14mil is a ton of money that the steelers could certainly use elsewhere.

Jets and Colts are most especially interested in how this goes. Both need a RB and both have a lot of cap space next season.
Detroit is a dark horse, as they would be the "hometown" team but don't have as much cap space. They could front-load a contract, though.
