It's being reported his deal is 2 years 9 million, when he got a 1 year deal for 9.6 mil from Jags last year.
I believe he and his agent are playing the Big Ben card. Play 2 years with an elite QB, show people what
you can do and hit free agency again at 27 with improved stats.

I predict over 800 yards receiving and 7 TDs for Moncrief.

He's a filler player anyways. We need Washington to step up his game this year and I guarantee we're drafting a WR in R2 or R3 this year after we get a LB.

It's the deal so what ever the OP thinks is not within the decision. Ben's window is 2-3 years and the Steelers had him sign a cap friendly show us what you got deal. I think the STEELERS dictated to him the terms and NOT the other way around. If at the end of contract or 1year and the Steelers are satisfied on his "prove it" then I think they will be compelled to extend him. So yes, the OP may be right but it's a win situation on the Steelers behalf.

If so... he has a very wise agent

Not sure he is a filler player. I don't see Washington up to his level this year. Best case is Washington steps up to the #3. I think a rookie and Washington battle
for the #3. Solid performance by Moncreif at the X and more production from the #3 replaces AB.

If he can hold onto the football and haul in those contested catches, agreed 100% about Moncrief.

That might be a big "if" though.

I am still uncertain what the plan is for Moncrief. Is he truly going to be the "X" receiver? Or maybe more likely, alternate between "Z" and "X." I think Washington's quality of play in year-two may play a huge part in this. If Washington can truly make a jump... we could move forward without even missing a stride.

.

Washington needs to put like 40 rec 500 yds 4 TD ypc 12

Hines57 is a moron. He's not a " filler " player. He's a legit #2 or #3 WR, now paired with a better QB that will make him shine. Moncrief size and speed will be too much for #2-4 CB's to cover with our OL and Ben buying time if needed.

Having said that I'd love Parris Campbell in round two and would be okay trading up for him.

Moncrief is bigger, stronger and faster than Washington plus has had a lot of NFL success. Washington is not going to be a better player than Moncrief and anything he contributes as the #3 WR is a win for us.

Also...Three-cone drill: 6.77 seconds (1st of 29 wide receivers)

Maybe you're kidding, but if you aren't, Hines brings more knowledge and intellect then anything I've ever seen you do here. And simply disagreeing with somebody's thoughts on a player's potential role doesn't make them a moron, moron.

That was for Moncrief? He has it all, minus some dropsies and some poor body positioning for some contested catches. Forget about his drops last year, they were mainly uncatchable footballs.

His numbers were off the chart, we have never had a big physical WR since Ben has been here. Martavis was fast and tall but was not physical or strong. This kid will go in the 2nd round and be a stud IMO.

Oops, that was for Boykin?

Sorry...Boykin had the 6.77. Moncrief had a 7.02.

watched the press conferences from all three new FA signings and I like their demeanor and attitude to being Steelers. Moncrief is going to be a stud with Ben and JuJu. His dad is a big Steeler fan, too.

He deserved this reply, and knows why. We'll see if he's just a " filler player "player. I do agree with him on Tomlin.

Lots of talent at the WR position, the team can wait until the 3rd round to address it. Moncrief will be just fine as the 2nd WR
