This one has us taking Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford (because we don't have enough receivers with a double-barreled name!)

The 2nd rounder I'm actually pretty happy with but I would hate Baker as the pick. Maturity issues, coachability issues and lack of deep speed don't sound like a Steeler pick to me. If we felt we were a starting slot corner away and the issues turned out to just be rumours then maybe but as it stands I'd hate that.

I'd be interested to see what you'd all do if you mocked this mock.

You hate the Baker pick??? Funny. The kid has the BEST STATS at his position in college football since 2016. One TD pass against him in THREE YEARS - only 14 completed passes against him all last season...

C'mon man...

I don't like the Whiteside pick in the second especially with Boykin still on the board (Boykin has been seen for multiple visits).

The kid has a lot of positives but his negatives are exactly what this team doesn't need right now.

There are a few things Baker can improve upon as a pro. He can be too physical with his hands while running with receivers downfield. That contact could lead to pass interference and holding penalties in the NFL. Baker looks quicker than fast, so showing the ability to match up with elite speed receivers will be looked at. During the fall, team sources told me that Baker lacks elite speed and is more of a 4.55 guy in the 40-yard dash. That belief was given proof at the combine, where he ran the 40 in 4.52 seconds Thus, Baker could have problems carrying verticals in the NFL, and it would be best if he is not matched up in man coverage on speedsters like Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackso.n and Will Fuller.

In speaking to team sources, they feel that Baker's tape and talent level should have him going in the No. 10-15 range of the first round, but they believe he will slide some because he has off-the-field issues and has not interviewed well with teams during the leadup to the 2019 NFL Draft.

Weaknesses:
Lacks elite speed
Could have issues carrying verticals
Needs to be protected against elite speed receivers
Sometimes can grab too much and be too physical
Has some off-the-field character concerns

I'm no draftnik but surely there are better suited cb's with comparable talent...huh?

When there's so little between the top corners I'd go with the safer pick. Plus Baker doesn't have elite speed.

I'm with you Slaine, I'm leery of this kid's attitude and lack of deep coverage skills/speed ...whatever. We should be steering well clear of these "characters in uniform"

Twice burnt....thrice shy huh ?

Too true. Plus if he didn't interview well that's a bad sign.

I saw an interview with Baker. He acts like a punk, imo.

Could be a chip on his shoulder....or he really might be a punk with a crap attitude.

Will say Baker improved his 40 at his pro day.

We have seen positives for all three top corners, and negatives.

Glad I don't need to make the pick...

I'm glad I'm not making anything picks. I'm still with BUTLER and also remember "pro" days can be in favor of participant to a degree.

Salute the nation

I'm a SEC homer, please don't take my comment as gold.

I do like his work though...

If a CB in round 1 you guys will regret passing on Greedy Williams.

Perfectly suited for todays NFL CB, flaws and all
