Damn it, I believe the trend is definitely pointing up. The defense's work against San Fran is, I think, underappreciated and the game against the Bungles was superb.
So I get no Tito's? (Great vodka for those who have not tried it. Here is a link to the company founder/owner's story. https://www.titosvodka.com/titos-story/)
The game against SF showed the defense is top notch, until they gassed. That's on the weak offense we showed that game. They need to control the clock and drive the field. The less time our defense spends on the field generally the better shape they will be
Exactly. We could have had the All-Time Pro's in Defense on the field against SF and would have still lost. It takes all three phases to win. Such a simple solution, but yet, the result equates to TEAM EFFORT.
****** game plan. Running into 8/9 man fronts and then bashing the OL all week the next week isn't getting anything done. Now we have the short passing game on tape for teams to game plan against. Take some more shots deep with Washington, Johnson and Holton, ain't forgetting Juju either.
If the defense gets beat for cheating too close to the LOS they'll loosen up in the middle of the field. We have to earn that respect first and then it opens up other parts of the offense. Dropping back and thinking you have Ben back there doesn't work for Rudolph, yet.
Shocker - EVERYONE knows we throw the deep ball. Last week's game plan, regardless of the opponent was genius.
What we need is a game plan that has been tailored for the opposing team each week. Nothing more...
Beat me to it. Our best DB's (in recent memory) all came from other teams. It's possible that Tombert has realized they don't know jack **** about drafting DB's and have come around to the idea of letting other teams do it for them. A man's got to know his limitations.
to be fair, we've not been able to draft CBs in quite a long damn time. Ike was the best CB we've had since Woodson, and it took us a long time to get him.
I know we've all glossed over the Cowher years, and fawned over how much he got out of the players he had on roster - but fact remains that he trotted out the rented, whipped mules of Chad Scott and Dwayne Washington for a long damn time. Both of those guys sucked serious ***.
