It's all about EXPOSURE fellas, IMO. The league went to NE to destroy the tapes and evidence against the Cheats. They had HUGE exposure to lawsuits over this issue.
They went hard (but not fast) against the team and Marcia regarding the deflation of footballs BECAUSE they had very limited exposure. The Cheats still won right? By waiting until AFTER the SB played out, they limited their exposure even more. Betting is a big business afterall.
MT broke the "NFL rules" (code of silence) when he inferred that the Cheats had an advantage with the scrambled headsets. Almost immediately, the league went into damage control and every article included that NE "had issues with their headsets too" and that "the problem was resolved in the 1st quarter". Now they have finished their internal investigation and declared NE free from wrongdoing.
Really? First off, MT said himself that the problem continued for MOST OF THE FIRST HALF. Secondly, He said it's always the case in NE. There is NO evidence that the Pats were experiencing ANY problems w their League provided (cough, cough) headsets BUT we'll just take their word for it because Belicheat said so. WHY? Because this is the proverbial 'can of worms' which could implicate BOTH the Cheats AND the league in a scandal. It would expose the league to litigation from the outside.
Everyone knows the league 'originally' provides the headsets BUT everyone also knows the headsets and equipment are kept onsite w the home team, they are maintained by LOCAL contractors to the league (what, do you think the NFL has guys they fly around to every game to run the equipment?) AND are distributed by THESE league subcontractors.
Further, anyone who knows what a control freak Belicheat and Marcia are would have heard about 'all of their tales of woe' in regards to the problems THEY have had with the headsets and communication through the years...don't 'cha think?

Funny what a cease and desist order will do when the league finds out their commodity is being risked by these remarks!
This league is being run by lawyers for the 'ultimate benefit' of their owners. Protecting the investment is paramount to any potential scandal.

Yeah, I get that and agree.....especially in that situation against that team. But I think that if a D player is in the neutral zone when the O line jumps it is a penalty on the D. If that's correct it might have been a smart play by Beachum.....half the distance, first down.
Regardless, at this point being a NE fan must be like trying to defend the Nazi's........Every one of their football conversations must start with "Yeah, but..."
Not true. Your average Patriots fan feels as though they are doing no wrong, or they are not doing anything everyone else is also doing. They also feel that it is nothing more than sour grapes,and envy, because they have been more successful than accuser teams.The denial is epic.

As most of those fans are a younger fan base as they picked up a lot of fans once Bill and Brady started winning. Said this long ago right around spygate. They simply only care about winning. They could care less if someone runs over a crowd of old helpless ladies in the process.
Ask one time, "what would it take for you to stop rooting for your team", and see what kind of replies you get.
This younger generation's lack of integrity is alarming and they personify that.
I get what your're saying, the Pats** don't have a lot of tradition that pre-dates Belicheat and Br*dy. Most of their fans were not aware that New England had a football team prior to 2001 as they were mostly preoccupied with the Red Sox.

Late last night, I read an article on Pennlive by Jacob Klinger addressing pass rushing Marcia. The article was posted at 12:00am Sept 9th...BEFORE THE GAME.
At the end of the article, James Harrison was quoted as stating "there is a history of HEADSETS GOING OUT IN THAT STADIUM". This was BEfore the game even happened!
This morning...the article had been scrubbed of Harrison's remarks with a new time of 5:56am, Sept 9th.
Another article on Goerie titled "headset issue resolved" had everyone on the Steelers backing off their comments. Art Moats said "It's one of those things where we're out on the field just like, "˜Hey, man, where's the call at? We haven't got the call yet.' But we can't make excuses. We've got alternative methods for communication, and that's what you have to go to in situations like that,"�

The potential lawsuits is what keeps the NFL covering up for the *Patriots. Read "Spygate the Untold Story." Very good read.
In short, the NFL is a perfect storm for these types of problems to happen and persist. One, the NFL is a private enterprise, not publicly traded, nor is there Government oversight. What sets the NFL apart from so many other billion dollar businesses is Vegas - that people bet on the NFL product. If bettors realized they'd been scammed for years and years, lawsuits would flow and the result of those lawsuits would be a bankrupt and defunct NFL.
That may sound like Chicken Little screaming that the world is about to end, but it's factual and true. Research how much money is bet on the Super Bowl alone, or throughout an entire NFL season. Vegas reports betting #s, but that is just a drop in the bucket compared to bets taken nationwide and/or worldwide outside Vegas. Just Vegas books alone report over $650Million taken per year, with over $120Million taken on the Super Bowl itself. Worldwide, the bets placed on NFL games is in the billions.
Now say those pesky little investigators came back from Foxboro with 40 tapes. Say they showed a pattern of 7 or 8 years of cheating, including the filmed walk through of the Rams before that first Super Bowl. It's exposed that the outcome of the games were all in question. Lawyers the world over would be scrambling to get those documented bets and reach each and every one of those bettors for 8 years or more. There would be massive class action lawsuits, seeking billions in damages.
And *poof* goes the NFL.
For as all-powerful and dominant as the NFL is, it's really built on a cardboard foundation when it comes to situations like these. They HAVE to cover up these types of issues, not by choice, but by necessity. And this gives people like Robert Kraft and Bill Bellicheat all the power, because they KNOW that if the NFL exposes them, the NFL is done. And so they can continue to thumb their noses at the world, because the NFL's core weakness is their very protection.
Exactly, karma sent. I think the NFL is just trying to muddle through this without lawsuits until Brady retires, soon since he's 38, and hopefully Belicheat soon after.

EVEN FORMER players and coaches are still under the control of the league as they participate in the league unions and benefits programs.
It's gonna take a big name 'in the know' like GSP and the UFC to bring this to an end. Maybe Deebo will do it after this year...he fits the mold of someone who 'just doesn't give a ****' and is willing to face the wrath regardless. And from what I was told from Coach Haley it was only when we had the ball. When the Patriots had the ball there was no radio broadcast.”
This meshes, possibly, with the claim made by the Steelers’ official website on Friday that the problems would stop when league officials would arrive to inspect the situation and start when they would exit — if, of course, the league officials were arriving when the Steelers didn’t have the ball and were leaving when the Steelers did have the ball. Either way, it’s at best a strange coincidence that the NFL’s statements on the matter never addressed.
Roethsliberger also talked more generally about the perception that the Patriots have inside information about an opponent’s game plan, which for Roethlisberger dates back to the AFC title game that ended his first NFL season.
“Whether we were outcoached or outplayed or they had some kind of a leg up, I always felt that they knew some of our offensive plays,” Roethlisberger said. “For whatever reason. Maybe it was better scouting or whatever. But I had always felt that. But I’m not one to sit and say, ‘Hey,’ you know, to pout about it or talk about it. I just felt that they were — they beat us on that day and maybe I was a rookie and didn’t know any better but I always felt that the knew some of the plays we were calling.”
It may have been better scouting or better coaching. Hmmmmmmmmmm, more cheatriots way. If I was a billionair, I'd find a way to expose those FUCKtards (sorry to offend tards), for who they really are. Probably only have to undercover investigate about 4 to 12 people. They (cheatriots) are cheaters. STARTS with kr*ft / billicheat / t*mmy b*y and a few others. ernie adams is the diagnostic guy, billicheat is the main guy. Some say he wanted to start some of this kind of stuff with the browns. ernie was there too. Modelle said NO and ironically was sent packing only to find a more cooperative owner. Could youi imagine brady playing the dominant defensed of the steelers, twice a year, and US having the cheating feeling. BROKEN IN HALF is what i'd be seeing.
