We’re going to create a little pressure,Tomlin said to a question about Boswell.

Long a proponent of holding his team’s camp in the setting of the bucolic Unity campus, Tomlin said Boswell will be motivated to perform even outside of the Steelers’ preseason games.

I think you underestimate this environment if you say it’s pressure-free, Tomlin said during a news conference at Benedict Hall. This is a highly competitive, pressure-filled setting. That’s the nature of NFL camps, and I don’t think specialists are exempt from that.

Here is a gif showing an example of what Tomlin is doing to test Boz

under pressure.

See if you can make it now Chris, can ya huh huh huh?

If only Art Rooney II did the same for Tomlin.

He sort of did. He wasn't given his normal extension.. Rooney can cut bait any time he wants after the season if he chooses. Nothing is road blocking that coach, but a want to.

I don't think Boz will require any outside pressure other than on himself.

As long as he's physically healthy and focuses that pressure positively, he'll be fine.

The only pressure I'm concerned about is what the defense will bring.

JMO, if Boz is healthy - he's the second best kicker in the league. Only Justin Tucker is better IMO...

I believe Boz had a groin injury throughout the season that the Steelers just didn't deal with. He was "hurt" but not "injured" in their eyes.

But a kicker with a groin injury is a pretty big ******' deal.

Not sure why we don't look for a big leg like Tucker....You can tie or win "any" game at the end and only need to get to the opponents 35-42 yard line.

Such a deadly weapon, that we could really, really use at Heinz.

Where are the big legs for competition in camp?

Check out slash's OP and you will see Tomlin has the BIG legs for camp pressure....................

Wright is just good enough for competition but not good enough to beat out an already decided kicker. I hope BOZ is healthy in both body & Mind. I think he will be fine but I've said it before you need to be prepared with a plan B AND MAYBE RIGHT IS THAT PLAN B.

Boswell does have a big leg - again, the kid played all season hurt until he was replaced.

I'd give him the opportunity to prove us all wrong this season...

I guess my definition of a big leg is a 55 yard plus FG kicker.......Then again, Tomlin doesn't march anyone out for those attempts...Career wise he is better at 50 plus than 40-49

I haven't checked out the Big Leg Kicker store lately, but are there a plethora of them available we don't know about?

Just curious, do you need a big leg for fake FGs???

BOZ has plenty of "big" leg. Last season was health / game planing / in game adjustments / coaching / .

man, tomlin sure is riding the 'kicker cost us the season' gibberish that rooney used as an excuse

I never read a credible report that said Boswell had an injury that was causing a problem. As I remember he was fading the ball left to right. If he indeed was injured and it impeded his kicking that would be a new watershed of coaching stupidity wouldn't it. You can literally choose from probably 30 guys who can kick a 40 yard field goal and you stick with an injured player who cannot.

who are we to question the great Danny Smith or Mikey T.

Boz was only injured in Dec. He couldn't have had a groin or hammy, or his distance would have dropped. He was still booming it, but he wasn't accurate, and I don't know why. He also slipped on what would have been the game winner vs Cleveland in week 1. That is a shoe issue, and he should have known better for that situation.

I have no idea when he was injured. Did the Steelers say he was injured in Dec? If he were injured shouldn't they have put him on the injury report?

Didn't he also slip in the Oakland game
