By Brandon Wallace SteelerNation.com After Pittsburgh’s impressive win over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday 41-17, Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin had some harsh words during his post-game press conference for the officials who refereed the game. Unfortunately for Tomlin, his actions cost him $25,000. He was fined by the NFL on Wednesday. “Man, these penalties […]

Rooney should pay it, although, if MT doesn't like the impact that the officials are having on the game, he should help get the rules changed, after all, he is on the competition committee.

This is a balsy move for a normally contrite coach. Finally seeing a little fire and spittle from Tomlin. He's on the competition committee, so it's about ******* time Refs get held accountable for ****** calls instead of coaches being fined for speaking truths...

I agree with Tomlin but on the flip side............DISCIPLINE your team up there coach....... You can't call foul when you're the most penalized team in the NFL so get your team to commit way less penalties and then some will listen to your bitching more seriously. I agree the TJ Watt was terrible buit all of the flags were not terrible unjust flags. THIS TEAM should be at about 1/2 of the flags they currently are and even then that is a little high.

Just some flags for thought.

Tomlin is on the rules committee he approved the new rules. He has no leg to stand on.

I believe Captain Cool Shades is feeling the pressure with his comment "people are losing jobs". Our usually composed and collected Head Coach was cursing and on edge after a blowout win. The coming weeks will be very telling on the sidelines.

Well good grief stop ******* with the rules in the offseason or just put flags on everyone. You can't even go 3 plays in a football game without some type of infraction. The judgement call ones are the worst.

Tomlin is one of two coaches on the CC. I’m pretty sure all of those members on the committee didn’t anticipate the rule being interpreted by officials to this extreme. Cowher had mentioned when they had the meeting a couple of weeks ago that some coaches were worried about “judgement” decisions and all the officials weren’t on the same page. Thus the statement released by the league regarding what is/isn’t a RTP penalty.

It’s just one more feather in the cap that the Commish has made the game so disappointing to watch nowadays.

Not worth it. What's the upside? None. Do it through team channels to the NFL in a less visible way, even if you are right.

If you believe the referees can carry grudges, the Tomlin man has just made his team an even bigger target.

Oh that’s total BS Coach...and you know it. More Tomlin bashing vocals on your part.

Most all of the coaches have rapports with the officials in the league. Steratore who had a ton of pundits with his crew was well known among coaching circles, especially in Pitt, since he’s from the area. Cowher and him are friends because he officiated his daughters basketball games. There are a only a couple who were vilified in the media and given an unreliable viewpoint from the media. Triplett, probably the most visible since he screwed up on several occasions during prime time. All in all there is no acrimony between the coaches and officials, they know the officials have a difficult job trying to interpret these new rules which put way to much emphasis on judgement. Those guys want less judgement calls, so as to reduce the pressure with replay.

And when Coach Tomlin "does nothing" you and your merry band of men call him a "deer in headlights". You can't have it both ways.

Ike Kelly hit it on the head...

And there YOU go. If the man is quiet about it, you'd say he doesn't have the balls or intelligence to speak up when his team is being hurt by bullshit interpretations of penalties. You'd then give some cockamamie insight about how by not publicly speaking up, he's losing the trust of the players and therefore the locker room. So, when he does speak up, here you come with this crap.

Uhh, they CAN have it both ways here. And often do.

I'm surprised more coaches haven't gotten to that point yet. Hell, I'm shocked that there aren't 15 yard penalties on coaches regularly for cussing the incompetent officials out over the bullshit. I understand the anti Tomlin folks in here, there are some legit reasons to question his coaching. Anyone who takes issue with this is just wrong, it was time someone said it.
