Mike Silver, Dianna Russini, Rodgers prefers VIKINGS

Everyone knows the dynamics of things in Pittsburgh. The coach wants a player, the GM tries to get that player. Khan is way more aggressive in trying to get those players, and isn't afraid to make trades.

He's also gotten a lot of value from the trades he's made. Acting like Khan is just status quo isn't paying attention. He's the opposite of Colbert, but both were/are stuck with Tomlin.

He's also only had two drafts so far

Colbert made trades too. Minkah Fitzpatrick and Devin Bush first come to mind, and he traded up for Polamalu back in the day.

However, that is not what I'm referring to when it comes to the status quo.

Khan first came to the Steelers as a financial egghead with virtually no football background. It seems naive to think he worked under Colbert all those years without Colbert's approach toward assessing players and rosters greatly influencing him.

I just do not think it is realistic to expect positive change with this franchise until there are real changes made at the key decision making positions.

Tomlin reached his expiration date with the Steelers some time ago, and Khan is, in many ways, a continuation of the Colbert front office

Articles out today are saying Rodgers is looking for close to $35 million per season. That's still too much for him. Back that down another $10 million. Either way, I still would have moved on by now.

They need a starting defensive end and a run stuffer in the middle. Other than qb those are probably their two biggest needs.
If they can get a guy for NT then I think Benton excels as he slides outside. The issue is that they really need to get the surefire replacement for Cam.

Yet, many claim that Khan has already established himself as this great GM.
Great? I don't think anyone is saying that. Doing well, Yes
He **** the bed with the WR position last year and the QB position this year. His three first round picks to this point are either coming off disappointing seasons or have yet to show much due to injury.
This can only be said if he did nothing. I believe that he is having a hard time "selling" Pittsburgh to prospective top FA's and has chosen to NOT overpay to make it happen. This could also be a power play between him and Tomlin. Tomlin is making his job much harder, maybe he is not going to destroy the Team's cap to help Tomlin.
I really wanted the Steelers to go outside the organization to head up the front office. Khan is too accustomed to the Steelers way of doing things, which seems to have become stale and out of place in today's NFL.
With the way he is doing things, I am not seeing that. He seems to know that you cannot put your team in constant cap hell for a one year shot. He SEEMS to believe in building through the draft (which Weidle also seems to believe)
I'm not sure bringing Weidel in an assistant capacity from the Eagles was enough of a change, as it is ultimately Khan and Tomlin making the personnel decisions.
I believe the addition of Weidel was exactly what the team needed. With Kahn being the money and organizational guy and Tomlin not being able to recognize talent, Weidel brings that ability to the table. Don't kid yourself, Weidel has say which seems to align with Kahn.
The whole GM search a few years ago kind of seemed like a farce, as it felt like Khan had been promised to be Colbert's successor some years earlier.
Nothing really wrong with that. We will find out if that was the wrong decision when Tomlin leaves or AR2's replacement sides with Kahn/Weidel

I believe this is exactly why Weidel was brought in when he became available.
