Michael Pittman Jr!

We're there any QB deals yesterday to set the market other than Willis at $22.5M per and KFPs $7.5M deal with Carolina?
We also have Daniel Jones at $37.8M transition tag. Minshew was $5.5M.

Where does that leave the Steelers and Ayahuasca A-Ron?

Tyler Huntley 2 years, $5m.
Marcus Mariota 1 year $7m + $4m incentives.

Given they are both backups that puts Rodgers north of those numbers, which I think we already knew.

Pittman opens up the field for DK to be more a true WR1, and if they can get a speedy slot guy, DK should feast. Hopefully, Rodgers got his pants ironed so he doesn't continue to have a problem with throwing to a wide-open Roman.

i believe Rodgers returning is a foregone conclusion at this point. We didnt even bat an eye at other qb Options... if they were going with howard or a rookie, another vet QB would be incoming ... remember, they view themselves as in contention this year, not rebuilding...

But adding young wrs can take a year or two to develop... so it would seem reasonable to address that in the draft now that the obvious starters are in place.. so when Metcalf and Pittman are winding down a new set is readily available
That sucks, wasting another season with a retread QB and drafting in the early 20's again is the ceiling.

So Rodgers at $20M + $3-5M in incentives?

The GB coach up the prospect (Howard +?) plan for another year.

Might be great to get another young gun to learn alongside Howard.

He was the Colts top option for a few years due to injury, and even with subpart QB play (sounds familiar) was still able to hit at least 80 catches or 800 yards in the last 5 seasons. Great size, great hands, runs the whole route tree, is a legit WR2 and not a low end one either. Low end WR2/WR3 have never seen 109 catches for 1,100 yards.

For years we aren't active in FA, people bitched. Khan comes in and has been very active, and people still *****. What exactly do you want? To sign all pro's every year to hometown discounts? This isn't madden. We gave up very little, and the extension is slightly higher than what some "experts" were calling Calvin Austin's market. News flash to all the stubborn OG's, the salary cap is $301m...These contracts will look inflated if you still are thinking the cap is near or below $200m
I don't hate it, I actually prefer him over a Doubs or most of what's out there. Possibly the RZ target we have desperately needed. He's a big upgrade hopefully the coaches/QB can unlock another gear. We have been so spoiled at the WR position its just hard to get excited paying nearly 20/ year for a guy the Colts felt wasn't worth keeping.

Good gosh your takes are so bad sometimes...

There are 32 teams in the NFL, pittman was 28th in yardage and 12th in receptions among wrs last year... and he has been in that range for years now... low end 1, top end 2... if you think otherwise your perspective of what a wr2 is is very very very broken... a wr1 doesn't need to be a hof/ all pro type and a typical or even really good wr2 isnt often a pro bowl candidate🤦🏻‍♂️
You're right, He is a WR2. I was initially disappointed in the move. Brian Thomas would have been my first choice due to age and upside. but the more I look at what's out there I like it more and more. Thank god we didn't sign Doubs or Aiyuk.

If they bring back Rodgers this year , then they look moronic for shelling out all that money for those two wide receivers. If you're going to have two studs on the boundaries, what's the point in bringing back a done Quarterback like Rodgers? Let Howard and whoever we draft battle it out in camp to see who is our starter. And go from there.

Rodgers best come in at less than 15 mil.

Malick Willis (not to be confused with his stunt double Malick Harris) was only 22.5mil and upside of youth +.

I don’t like this “no investment” in the most important position on the entire team.

Rodgers was so afraid of being hit, the WRs won’t have time to keep their respective routes.

If Rodgers don’t sign, there is rumblings of the Atlanta retread……………….

Salute the nation

It's not that he wasn't worth keeping, they couldn't afford to keep him and Peirce and Jones, and they still have to pay for others.

It wasn't like he was trash... It was much like the Tuitt or Hargrave for us several years ago. They had to make a choice. They need to extend Jones, Nelson, Buckner, Taylor and a host of other players that make up almost their entire roster. If you look at who their FA's for next year, it's A LOT!

yes please.

I have always liked Pittman. Seems pretty old school. Not flashy and just does everything well. I think he is a very solid compliment to DK. I'm also not ready to give up on CAIII or Wilson. Wilson flashed in preseason then was in the Tomlin doghouse. CAIII has not been terrible and I think with a better offensive system all our WRs will look better

Yup

Now we have two low end 1/ top end 2s
Just need to add a young gun in the draft

Couple that with Muth/ Washington in the middle and a rotation of Dowdle/Warren in the backfield AND an NFL offensive scheme and this offense could be effective…

Provided they solve the QB riddle and construct the left side of the OL.

After 1 day of tampering period they addressed several priorities…good start to fielding a competitive product next year.

Cousins would be perfect

He’s the ultimate vet that steps aside for the young guy…he knows that sidestep well 🤣 think it would be much easier to pull him (than Rodgers) for one of the young guys Howard/draft pick.

Good team guy, coach for the young guys and can get ya through a couple games in a pinch. Probably cheaper than Aaron too.

If Rodgers gave two ***** about winning (and the team) his decision would come in at least a few days BEFORE the draft at a bare minimum.

Romeo Doubs, more explosive and 3 years younger than Pittman, signed a 4-year deal for similar money today. Steelers seem to be building a power football team with no deep threats or explosive play capability.

Please, for the love of God...no.

I just don't get the Howard needs another year of coaching from Rodgers theory. Will will be 25 years old in September. He played in 50 Power 4 college football games over 5 seasons. He doesn't need to sit another year and "learn from Rodgers." What else is he going to glean that he didn't pick up last season? Give the guy a chance to compete instead of bringing back a 42 year old statue at 20 million.

Rodgers sat behind Favre for 3 years; Love sat behind Rodgers for 3 years, and now we have the Packers braintrust running the Steelers QB situation. That's my observation, not my plan.

If only we had a HOF QB for Will to sit behind for 3 years.

Or got one when Ben hurt his elbow and was obvious near the end of his great career.

But we got Bush, so there's that.

I would take Pittman every day over doubs. Doubs only had 3 games over 5 catches (7 was the most) and he had one game with 5. Pittman had 6 games over 5 catches and had 9 catches 2x. He also had 3 more games with exactly 5 catches.
I would definitely take the solid consistent guy every time

"Tough As They Come": Steelers Get Enormous Endorsement For Michael Pittman Jr From Colts' Daniel Jones

Tough?

I was amazed he was able to play again after that Tatum/Stingley assassination. Pittman's comment after the fact... "Kazee was just trying to make a play. I know what I signed up for."

Give us 22 of those guys.
