Media draft grades for the Steelers with links to their thoughts

Man, you guys rag on Coach, but he provides a LOT of content and discussion. Even if most of it is **** the masses disagree with. Don't stop doing what you're doing, Coach. I appreciate you and your love for the Steelers.lol ..

lol...I often wondered about all the ragging too. I just presumed that since I don't partake much in the meat and potatoes of football discussion that I'm just not up to speed with Coach's posting history on these boards.
But if Coach is really a coach then you would think his opinions would be invaluable to all of us.

As for the topic at hand...I am glad we weren't rated highly. That just means we probably had an awesome draft. The pundits are just goober fans like us that got a job covering it.

That's right. The Stains get an A every year and where has that gotten them!?!?

Didn't you make out like he was the new white Lawrence Taylor?

Crazy! I mostly said he was better than Jarivs " BUST " Jones, and should take some of his snaps. Chickillo is a good back up, who can start if needed for a while.

Furthermore I wanted TJ Watt in round one, so that shows you what I thought of Chickillo.

Let the yinzer/homers rag, I'm not afraid to state my opinion ( So far no one has posted who they would have drafted ) and am often proven right in hindsight on issues.

Some guys have noses browner than Cleveland's jersey. For example, some here defended the long snapper pick.

If any of the LB's we passed on in rounds 2 and 3 pan out, fans should rip the Steelers.

Jerome Baker, Lorenzo Carter, Fred Warner, Malik Jefferson, Oren Burks were passed on in favor of Washington, who is 3rd WR at best for a while on the Steelers. We need DEFENSE. If Washington is a disappointment and we know our journeyman ILB struggle, which they have been since Shazier went down....well, be honest and blast the thinking and wisdom of the Steelers who still have a window to make the super bowl IF the defense is fixed.

Not to say I'm better than others here but I did coach and play many moons ago. Look--its easy to be popular in a sports forum. Just never say anything bad about your favorite team, and don't re-mind people who didn't like what you say when hindsight proves you correct because odds are they won't take it the right way. if I didn't like the replies, I'd change my signature, but he's part of the problem too.

I'm here to talk ball, not make friends. If posters here know / see each other outside the forum that's different. As far as I know, only one guy here meet me, and he seldom posts.

And if you read his posts in response to you, you will see why he is ragged on.. he isnt often proven right in hindsight on anything.

There is no problem stating your opinion Coach, Its a fan board for a reason. But your BS :"I am often proven right in hindsight on issues" statement is what appoints you as the board's clown. In hindsight everyone is right goofball. But you interpret the context of the word that everyone else is wrong. Your opinion is worth no more than anyone else's on this board. Just admit you like to hear yourself and think you are smarter than the rest of us. As a result you clog the board with agenda driven opinions and flame anyone's response as less informed. When you re no more informed than the regular masses.

Everyone of those players you mentioned were drafted one round later and obviously was rated lower than Washington by the Steelers FO, What you don't realize is IF Rudolph didn't fall and was picked before our selection (11 in the 3rd round), then its possible anyone of those LB would have been selected. However, as Colbert has already mentioned, Rudolph had a 1st round grade and was falling and within striking distance. Which they went for. Yeah, you blast the wisdom of professionals. You hated the JuJu pick, but looked what happened there....

Your reputation precedes you. Remember that.

You say you are no better than others "here", but you did coach and play. That is passive/aggressive and implies you think you know more than others. So what does that mean? That since you played (probably HS at the most) and coached (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, Jr High or High School) you know are more educated to the game than other folks? It doesn't mean anything other than you are familiar with the game, understand the basic game rules has some understanding of offensive/defensive concepts and enjoys the competition it brings...There are many posters here who have played the game, in college no less (Div I too). Heck there are some who may have played pro ball, or actually coached some at the collegiate level.

You are right, it is easy to be popular in a sports forum, especially when you come across as someone who thinks they know it all, but really has no clue as to what they are talking about. And please give your "hindsight" comments a rest. as you aren't reminding anyone of anything that a journalist or reporter has already summarized subsequent to the topic it's about.

Yes you post to talk ball, but its more or less to prove an agenda (to yourself mainly) that you are smarter than others here on this board. That's why the posters who DO see each other outside the forum probably identify you with your calling card, "Head too big Polamalu"

Are you going to post who you would have taken in the draft Ike? This board has too many glass house types that like to throw stones.

The numerous I was right in hindsight comments possibly come from the glass house type throwing stones. I'm anything but a blind fan. If that upsets fans, too bad. I'm not changing.

I see mistakes and get upset about them as the Steelers are one of my hobbies. For example, no ILB's take in rounds 2-3 with some good ones on the board?. MISTAKE, I think and I will hindsight it.

PS: Who here has played college ball? I'll take a PM on that one.

I did play with my balls in college :smug:

It doesn’t matter who I wanted because the draft is finished. Colbert and Tomlin picked who they thought would help the team. Before the draft, KC mentioned they weren’t mortgaging the future and they were going to stick to their board. I respect that, because IT WORKS. The methodology to the draft has been the same since Chuck was here.

I would have liked a ILB in the first, but none was there. After the two were picked the next several had probably a 3rd round grade. I now understand what they are trying to do to the defense. They aren’t going to find another Shazier, so sub package football will be used heavily with Burnett, Edmonds. That is why they didn’t draft a ILB, but rather big safeties who can tackle and run in space.....like Ran did. I get it, and we will see how it works. You don’t get it, so you think the players chosen were a waste. Sorry, I’ll take at face value what the professional evaluators see, not yours since you only see a microcosm of what they see. Plus you don’t even watch games anyway.

Needed a WR after trading Bryant. Would have loved DJ Moore, Sutton, or Miller. They were all gone. But I’m pleased with Washington as I have seen his play for a couple years and he reminds me of Hines. Getting Rudolph was fantastic as I liked him better than 3 of the other QBs taken ahead of him. The fact Pitt had a 1st round grade, makes it even better. Had Kerryon been available or the 3 LBs I did like (Baker, Warner, Burks or even Lo Carter) they would have been that 2nd pick in the 3rd. I trust Munch, and if they felt the OT was that high on the board, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The remaining picks Allen and Samuels I like because they are good football players. Watched Allen the past couple years and I follow the ACC and was familiar with Samuels. Samuels will surprise and probably take Grimble’s place unless they don’t keep either Ridley or Toiussant.

I understood the Frazier pick. Dunbar might know something more than anyone else and McCullers hasn’t shown much at all. But I would have liked to have grabbed Tate or Ateman with that 7th rounder.

Your hindsight comments has nothing to do with your glass house analogy. It has everything to do with your incessant questioning of actual professionals and portraying yourself as smarter than they are. Which is basically all agenda based because your view doesn’t match theirs. You duplicate this behavior to the opinions of others on this board, when you have no more insight than any one else with the same information. Finally, your self promotion of being a great evaluator while not showing any evidence that you actually did the work to authenticate your musings is laughable, annoying and frankly lessens the board’s ability to have meaningful dialogue about each’s opinion.

Finally, you are not a contributor but you flood the board with banter threads only to bring attention to yourself, not to promote meaningful and productive discussions amongst the members. Justin has busted his butt to make this board more interesting and interactive than ever before. Yet, you impede it because you have a need to feel important all the while not supporting the actual board itself.

Quantity is not quality.

Golson was a failed pick. If he didn't get on the roster or play a down, the pick was a failure, regardless of the injury. You have to be able to play to be a positive value to a team.

You are mixing up "A pick that didn't work out" with " A failed pick" They are not the same thing, at least not to me or a lot of other fans I know ( and fans of other teams as well) It is different when you pick a Scott Shields, or a Jamain Stephens. Those were failed pics. Anyone who gets injured to the point of never being used or barely being used, especially before taking the field is more a long the lines of a pick that unfortunately didn't work out because the potential is always there for it to have been a good pick had it not been for the injury.

I agree. I could see calling it a failed pick if the guy missed half his college games due to injury, but that wasn't Golson. Bell was a workhorse in college and missed his first four games (i think it was his first four) due to injury.

For injuries, i can't blame the player or the pick.

good ol coach

different site and they still view you the same way

Hargrave is the worst NT I've seen as a Steeler fan who starts.

That might be the worst constructed sentence I've seen as a Steeler fan who reads.
