McFadden : "The best duo of backs in the AFC North will come from the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.”

“When you talk about this 1-2 combination for Pittsburgh, if they stay healthy, they will be very, very successful. Number one, I’m very high on the offensive line. But number two, their style of play fits what Pittsburgh has been built on. Being physical, being a tough-minded runner and leaning on you. And the ability to always fall forward,” McFadden said on CBS Sports HQ this weekend. “I think this will be a heck of a duo. The best duo of backs in the AFC North will come from the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.”

I hope he's right. His take to me seems highly speculative at this point, but maybe he knows something we don't.

He does say best duo in AFC North. Cincinatti and Cleveland both have okay/solid number 1's but not much behind them. And whilst Baltimore have Derrick Henry, apart from Lamar Jackson whose number of carries per game has been declining in the last few seasons (admittedly the drop in carries mostly coincides with Henry's arrival in Baltimore), they don't have much behind Henry. So, I can see the Steelers having the best duo, but not the best individual, in the AFC North.

Why? It's an unknown. On paper if they plug in the rookies it would seem to be better, but that's paper. Just seemed funny to me that he is so sold on the fact that they are going to be great.

It’s been a long time since we had a dominant running game that could be successful in obvious running situations and just impose its will instead of tricking or finessing the defense in short yardage, here’s hoping we see it next year

He is a talking head / typical fan / doubt he knows more than the next guy.

Love the enthusiasm, but like said……. AFC North 1-2 punch, nobody else has the 2 part of the punch.

If we don't start having a good offensive line after all the picks we've invested in it, then all that means is Omar sucks and should be shown the door ASAP.

I mean, the only thing Omar has done is work on the offensive line with his four drafts.

It damn well should be one of the best up-and-coming lines in the NFL at this point.

I mean, the only thing Omar has done is work on the offensive line with his four drafts.

Definitely Not “the only thing” he’s done in his 4 years.

He’s drafted 3 early tackles, 1 day 2 IOL and a mid round IOL.

Thats simply beginning to address a position group that was neglected the previous decade by Tombert.

With the empty cupboard handed to him I don’t see any other route unless the intended path is high priced free agents (an even riskier endeavor).

He did what most of Steeler Nation had been clamoring for, building the trenches.

So far it seems he has hit on at least 3 of those 5 picks, 1 is completely unknown and the other was developmentally challenged by Tomlin/Meyer and then suffered a devastating injury.

So far I see zero clear misses and nothing to suggest he needs fired because he’s addressed a glaring need/hole on the team.

As far as the trenches go I like the fact that he's actively trying to rebuild the line. Excited to see what the rookies can do.
Dylan Cook going from 3rd stringer to starting left tackle is a glaring example of just how inept the coaching staff was as a whole. If Jones stayed healthy they would never know how good Cook was. Was it the ego of not admitting Jones wasn't the 1st rd pedigree they graded him as, or was it just not knowing what you are looking at when it comes to talent evaluation. I don't know which is worse?
I don't see how the entire Line doesn't benefit from the coaching and scheme changes.
