McClendon signs with Jets

I think they may plan to draft a NT in rds 3-4

Two words: Vernon Butler.

For better or worse, it may take our 1st rounder to get him.

NT candidates can be obtained as UFA's now that the run is de-emphasized... McCLendon was a College UFA IIRC...

What is Ziggy hood doing? he always looked better in his limited time in the middle than at end lol....

more like in workouts

but yeah

gettin Ziggy with it

**** Ziggy. Draft some 5th 6th 7th rounder and U get the same production

You get both, if the rook outperforms him or any other vet brought then you cut him and no harm done to the cap

We need to bring a cheap FA to compete for a roster spot, don't care the name

Wasn't a fan of his. I want to see big Dan get PT. We will go get a cheap vet or draft someone to help with depth.

Don't think big dan is the answer. He may be in todays less demanding role of NT, but I think his health of keeping on the field, in a starting role, would limit our ability to count on him. Depth or FA depth needed.

Salute the nation

If someone is a dynamic 3/4 nose that can flex and be a disruptive pass rusher in the non 3-4 alignments he would have first round value and I would have no problem with a first rounder. They are razor thin talent wise on the DL. But he can't be just some big plug. There just isn't enough snaps to justify that.

I think not re-signing McClendon is a stupid move. I think not playing him in more of a rotation with Heyward and Tuitt was stupid, too.

When I think of McClendon, I think of valuable guys from the past, like a Chris Hoke or a Travis Kirske or even back to a Bill Johnson for a year or two in the '90s. I thought he could be that kind of guy for the Steelers.

This is what has puzzled me the last couple of seasons. Some on here stated that after he added mass he lost his quickness that caught everyone's eye his first couple of season.

That contract he got was too expensive to be kept, good for him and good luck

Yea, I see that now. I don't know why I thought he signed for less than 3 mill a season. Old age.

I actually think they guy could be beast-like as a 4-3 DT. But Jets run a 3-4 as well. The guy is decent as a 3-4 NT, but is not ideal.

He needs to be a 3-4 end. He was effective in that role when Cam was hurt.

Wasn't Mitchel and DL pimping McClendon 2 years ago. How he was going to be a household name, and Watch Out for Him!!

How'd that work out?

Pass...
