Kudos to these two guys for their play the last few weeks. With Ike out and Cortez playing so poorly they've made some good contributions of late.

McCain gave up the early TD today but every CB gets beat on occasion. I remember many fans and so called media experts were upset the FO never used an early pick in the draft on the CB position. I distinctly remember Lake saying they liked what they had got in picking these two guys up in free agency.

Hopefully moving forward they can continue to contribute. Ike will probably be back in a few weeks and here is hoping Cortez can gain some confidence and contribute also. I know it is early days but we should have some level of confidence in our depth at the CB position.

Props also to Gay, he played fantastic tonight.

Blake was both bad and good, but he made some great plays in this game. I found my self rooting for him hard in the second half.

Moats played like a starter.

Agreed. The entire defense had a damn fine game. They stuffed the run, pressured Flacco, forced turnovers, and made the Ravens earn every yard. Very few defensive penalties.

And here's the scary part Steeltime: McCullers didn't even play. Oh the tasty potential when he finally pushes Cam Thomas off the field...

Yeah I was amazed at there performance they have both stepped up and at a time when we all thought we were done. Nice job also by a lot of guys Moats and McClendon who I always point out sucks play a very nice game. MC got some push and showed some good stuff tonight.

The best part is that even when they were beat on plays, they were LOOKING BACK FOR THE BALL. Something none of the prior Steelers that are benched/out injured ever seem to do.

I'm impressed with their play, and they are young and new in our defense so I forgive their mistakes a lot easier.

McCain gave up the TD but he was on his man. He didn't get smoked on the play like we've been seeing.

McCain and Blake I feel should be starting at this point with Gay as #3 and Allen #4. The last two weeks Blake has been man-on-man with the teams best receiver and both times Blake won late in the game. Dude has the wheels to keep up with the likes of TY Hilton and Smith and that is not something easy to do.

Do you really think Lake knows anything about db's? Or Tomlin/LeBeau? What a novel thought.

I thought Torry Smith and Jump Ball Joe would eat our CB's up. I don't know how many times Torry was targeted, but I would have targeted him much more had I been the Ravens OC.

Blake has a 95 speed rating on Madden. The boy has wheels...

Props to both fellas on a great night out and the entire D as well.

Torrey sucks now, he hasnt been the same guy since they lost Boldin

I was shocked they didn't throw more jump balls to Smith. I know he is short but he is tenacious. I didn't understand their play calling all night. It made no sense to me at all.

At his 2012 Pro-Day, Blake ran a 4.32 and had a 39-inch vertical--he is an elite athlete. He played on a terrible UTEP team. He really needed serious coaching. I love what they are getting out of this kid.

Totally agree. I thought Blake was a bust, just hope he gets away from the actions after making a play, have some class. McCain played well, even giving up a pass he tackled very well. Continue to learn and get better would be nice to see on these two.

I'm not ready to anoint them after last night's game. They performed well, but they played against a dreadful Joe Flacco who could not perform under pressure the entire game. That said, they made the plays they needed to. On the long TD, it looked like Cortez Allen out there--right there to make the play, but didn't. Keep the pass rush up and these guys will continue to play at a high level.

How about Lake / LeBeau.

Since I have no skills in evaluating a DB back coach I included Tomlin based on comments by Dungy/Gruden and John Lynch when he was hired here.
