He has produced extremely well over his first 3 years but you would think teams would start dialing it back after .... Gurley , Bell and Johnson signings have soured.
Kudos to Christian for landing the deal...... don't know how much is guaranteed yet.

I think he is a safe prospect outside of an unforeseen significant injury. Which can happen to any player. I agree teams have to be careful but it is all based on individual in question. I believe you know what you are going to get with him.as in no drop-off in production after the contract is in place...

He is a good dude but he is the feature on that team and he gives up his body many times. Teams are going to key on him unless T Bridgewater can take some of the pressure off him with his play.
Injury comes with the territory. Hopefully he can remain healthy as he is fun to watch.

Love the way he plays but I am getting on board with those saying you play a RB for his rookie deal and then if he won't sign cheap replace him and let someone else overpay.

I hear what you are saying but sometimes it not as easy as a plug and play at the RB position. I thought for sure the new CBA would address and drop 1 year off the RB rookie deal due to the short life of a RB. Nope, the rest of the players said **** that and voted for the money now and either didn't address it in negotiations or literally said **** that.

The dude earned it. He produces no matter the situation. I've had him on my fantasy teams for a couple years now and he just puts up numbers every week. I'd say he is better than Bell even when Bell was still a Steeler.

All I know is Derrick Henry is pissed. McCaffery was drafted the year after him. Had a year left on his rookie contract and a 5th year option on top of that, and he gets PAID.

Henry has to play for the tag. Sucks for him.

Cope I hear yaz but NO sympathy for any athlete making 12+mill for one season work. I could be fresh out of High School (from scoring 4 TDs) and manage to live off 12 mil the rest of my life.

I also don't think HENRY is as good all around back as McCaffery.

Henry is the IDEAL RB to use up off his rookie salary and then replace with another rookie.

Henry could also be a little relieved. After Johnson, Gurley shuffle and Melvin Gordon signing for 2 million less than he was offered last year..... at least he knows there are still some owners out there willing to dump boat loads of cash on a RB. Like Drink said McCaffrey offers more as a dual threat on OFFENSE ....so I think he is more valuable in today's NFL. .... Henry better ball out this season or he will get low balled on his next pay day.

Henry is one dimensional. He is mostly a 2 down back as he has little passing game value. I know I wouldn't pay him as much as McCaffery.

Henry also gets a lot of hard carries. I see him having a short nfl life. If i were him i would sign whatever, get as much guaranteed as you can and be happy

So finally the one that got paid as a RB and as a WR. Wonder how Bell will feel about that

Was it 2015, that the 3 finalists for the Heisman were McCaffery, Henry and Watson?

yes with Henry winning and McCaffrey 2nd

Finalists
RB Derrick Henry, Alabama:

Henry leads the list of Heisman finalists after a dominant regular season in Tuscaloosa. After waiting in the backup role behind T.J Yeldon in 2014, Henry got the chance to show why he was five-star prospect coming out of high school, rushing for 1,986 yards and 23 touchdowns on 339 carries. Henry would be the second Alabama running back to win the Heisman in the last seven years. Mark Ingram took home college football’s highest honor in 2009.

QB Deshaun Watson, Clemson:

Watson is a solid contender for the Heisman as he has led Clemson into the College Football Playoff while putting together one of the top statistical seasons in the country. The sophomore has exploded in his first full season with the Tigers, throwing for 5,312 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He has also been a major threat on the ground, rushing for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns.

RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford:

Just a sophomore, McCaffrey broke the NCAA single-season record for all-purpose yards this season, topping Barry Sanders’ total of 3,250 last week against USC. McCaffrey couldn’t push the Cardinal into the playoff, but he still put up arguably the most dominant season in school history. He finished the regular season with 1,847 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, to go along with 540 yards and four touchdowns through the air. McCaffrey was Stanford’s leading rusher and receiver, while also compiling 1,042 yards on kickoff returns.

That's the deal the players voted to approve. They had a chance to shut down the CBA and chose to move forward. The franchise tag is great for teams, ****** for players.

I did not think he would turn out as good as he is. IMO, he's worth the money. He was in the conversation for MVP, and will be 24 years old when the season starts. It snot like he's 28 getting a new 4 year deal.

Very true, but most 1st rounders don't get their second contracts until they turn 26 and play out their 5th year option.

JK Dobbins, when he becomes elgible for his 1st contract should be near worth what McCaffey is getting. Barring injury and adding in the CBA increase over the next 4 years he may even get more. NOT comparing ability but their value.
