Mac Jones Trade

I wouldn’t waste one bit of capital on any qb in this draft or free agency. This team is not close to winning anything. Just roll with Howard, Rudolph or Skylar Thompson. Build the rest of your roster and hopefully find gold next year.

It would be a travesty if Rudolph say a single start over Howard, barring injury. BUT, Rudy could be a useful tool if we discretely tank to get Manning.

Fortunately the Steelers, and all good organizations, don't think like fans.

ask @bermudasteel what he thinks of Simpson before you put your eggs in that basket.

I think the guy CAN play very well, but I also see that he had one of the better collegiate WRs at his disposal last season (Ryan Williams) and didnt accomplish as much as he should have. Just my opinion. That could be a coach/scheme thing though. Simpson's got a fine release and can make all the throws.

to be real, he's not in the same category as sCam Newton or Joe Burrow. He's a better passer than Anthony Richardson and Trubisky.
but do we want to invest in a QB who's compared to Richardson or Trubisky? I wouldn't.
Endorsed. I am not touching Ty Simpson...

I would kick the tires and check under the hood of Mac Jones-however, he is an older version of Will Howard, and just off of the way Howard played at OSU I would just roll the dice with Howard, cut Rudy (sorry folks last year looked like 2019 Rudy that got replaced by Duck Hodges) and retain Skylar Thompson. It is crazy to even consider Kyler Murray. He would not fit into a west coast system and does not have the attention span to the attention McCarthy commands in a quarterback.
Replace Murray with Tua. I'm all in...

If the Steelers want to go down the reclamation QB road, I'm not sold that Mac Jones is the best option.

He's not bad- don't get me wrong.

Malik Willis will get a lot of support- and his ability to run is very exciting to watch. But not sure if that fits the McCarthy offense that well.

Might be unpopular- but I wouldn't be too upset with teaming Rodgers back up with a guy he mentored a couple of years back.....Zach Wilson

.I have no words...

Just go into this year with Rodgers, Howard and Skylar. See what shakes out. Enough of Rudy...let him go. Mason only sticks around IF AR doesn't come back. Give Howard his shot.

Same. Call me crazy but I'm thinking Young Howard is better than advertised.

I'm torn with my favorite option for the first round - WR is the obvious answer but OL/OG is a close 1b... and then there is safety.

1. Tate = beast
1b. Kadyn Proctor - how quickly we'll forget Broderick Jones
1c. Caleb Downs - explanation not needed. Think Minkah on steroids all the time

Tate could drop to us, and if so should be our pick.

Proctor may be best inside. Imagine the left side of the line with Jones and Proctor. YUGE.

No way Downs makes it to us. He'd be pick 1A with Tate as 1B.

I'm trading up for any of these 3...
I'm almost certain the Steelers won't be using all 12 picks in a weak draft class. Move up and get the players you want on day 1 or 2 or move them for future picks. If I had to guess, I'd say there's a better than 50% chance the Steelers move up in the first round.

No.

I think TJ does ride out his career as a Steeler at his age.

Not much value for trade bait given his injuries of recent and decline in play.
At this point, I don't think you're trading him for the value that you would get back. Any value to his trade is getting that ridiculous contract off the books.

A-N-D

Monster contract.

I think WR and Safety are the biggest needs, other than QB. I would put MLB at 3rd. We have role players at MLB, but we don't really have that ask around guy. Wilson is good but not the best run stopper. Queen is solid, but misses to many tackles and not good in coverage. We just don't have that every down backer. I'm hoping a new scheme will help utilize our guys better but we will see. I would not be upset with trench picks on either side. Cook looked good but had a bad game against the Texans, but he wasn't the worst. Almost everyone on the line had a bad game. We have the pedigree on the oline I'm hoping coaches get more out of them. We could always uses more bodies on the dline and we will need a replacement for Heyward sooner rather than later

I’ve been running numbers watching some tape when I got time, I think the Steelers should take a change on Zach Wilson from the jets golden scrap heap. He’s got the golden arm! Since leaving the jets he’s gone through Sean Payton’s qb school and Mike mcdaniels school and received good grades if fat Mike is the qb guru they say he is he could be a real bargain. Everybody in New York was on his *** but Rodgers was no better and left New York with his reputation in tatters. You need a strong arm qb that can hum the ball now… they are letting db’s beat hell out of receivers. Wilson is both has incredible arm strength but is scary accurate. He just wasn’t the “star” New Yorkers expected from their #2 overall pick! He could the Steelers next qb wouldnt hurt to try him out!
