Looks like Landry is our starter this week.

I'm fine with Jones starting only because Vick has been ineffective for about 90 percent of his snaps. Jones needs to continue to make the safe pass and protect the football, nothing crazy. My concern is that the Chiefs have guys who can get after the QB and we all know what Jones looks like when he doesn't have a clean pocket.

Yesterday he climbed it and hit Heath for a first down. Yeah, only one play but who knows?

In fact....I have to go take a shower now.......

How do you not cut Vick and bring in another QB at this point is mind blowing...

The Landry Jones Era has begun.

He made some nice throws and didn't look overwhelmed, so I say let him play until Ben is 100%.

Who are we going to bring in that could do more than a hobbled Ben or Vick? If by the end of the week, it's clear that neither Ben nor Vick is capable of playing QB in an emergency (i.e. mostly handing off to Bell), then sign Tyler Murphy and let him play emergency QB.

If they make any roster move we know Ben's out.

As much as I'd like to see Landry play a full game, to see what he's made of, I think its more important to get Ben some live time before the Bengals game. I know you can never look past any team, but KC has its issues, and Ben has issues in his first games back after injury. I think we may be able to beat KC with a subpar Ben, but we need a kinks-free Ben to beat Cincy.

I agree, Landry went in with the team ahead, and our defense just killing. can he go 4 quarters without falling apart with all the pressures that go along with a hot rod team like the Steelers? I don't want to discredit his performance in any way, but if he starts against KC and we get beat by another bottom of the barrel team again, like we did with the ravens???? it will be another stressful season for the best fans in the sport.

It was 10-6 Arizona when Jones went into the game...

See you threw out a name, and I am sure there is more options.

But Vick is out and if Landry goes out we are stuck with who?

So for better or worse a QB should be brought in...

I don't care who our QB is, I want to win. If it's Landry, I hope he lights it up. If it's Vick, I hope he runs all over them. If it's Ben, I hope we put up 50 on everyone we play.

THIS
And if he absolutely, positively can't go.. put in Landry. He looked confident, poised, and dare I say - accurate yesterday. You can say it wasn't a high pressure situation but Arizona has a very good defense and the game was close. I think he at least deserves another game if Ben can't go.

But we really need to get Ben some time in before the Cincy game to shake off the rust.

Really? What would you of call it?

Yup. It definitely could be a move on Saturday to bring Tyler Murphy off the practice squad. We could cut Vick or someone else who wasn't going to dress for the game (Chris Hubbard?) and then reverse the move on Monday.

Again, I don't think someone off the street could do anymore than Murphy or a hobbled Ben. There won't be any practice reps for a new guy off the street --- Jones and Ben will take them all. Ben could run some of the offense I think...hand off to Bell and quick throws exclusively out of the shotgun where he doesn't hold the ball for more than 2 seconds --- no new guy is going to be able to do more than that anyway as much as this board loves signing guys off the street (new is always better!).

If LJ starts this week and has a solid game, he may have written his ticket for this coming off season as a potential starter for someone else...(cue The Browns, Bills, Texans). gradkowski could be resigned for another season.

Hell Matt Flynn is still getting contracts off that one game

Yea, but KC's issues aren't with the pass rush because of Houston and Hali. I don't think a hobbled Ben needs to be subjected to their pass rush just to get back into the flow of things. Not to mention Beachum is out and Wallace has been only serviceable. IMO, it's Landry Jones time and no other unless he gets injured.

Papillon

Hope Tomlin is smart enough to have Big Ben pump the brakes a little bit and give him 1 more week of recovery time. This knee injury in no joke and Ben does have the propensity to push and early return from serious injuries to the detriment of the team. I say let Landry the 16k college passing yards and 124 tds at Oklahoma kid take the reigns for 1 more week.

Big Ben: 'Feel' will determine availability

Ben Roethlisberger said he will not know his availability for Week 7 until he tests out his knee on Wednesday.

Roethlisberger: ‘I Would Assume That Landry And I Will Split The First Reps’ In Practice This Week

"It’s going to have to be a feel thing, a comfort level," Roethlisberger said. "It’s too hard to put a percentage on where I am right now because as I sit here right now talking to you guys in a chair, I feel great, I feel 100%. But I don’t know anything until I go out and try to do football-related movements on Wednesday." Roethlisberger expects to split first-team reps with Landry Jones at practice Wednesday. If he feels good, Roethlisberger could take more reps as the practice goes on, but he does not want to steal snaps from Jones if he is not going to play. It sounds like we could have a good idea of Roethlisberger's status by Wednesday.
