Looking Into The Tight End Problem That’s Haunted The Steelers Defense

Odds are he or a "new" he will be back or is currently back "yet to be determined". I'll keep posting stupid CHIT (my normal stuff) just to keep you refreshed.

Salute the nation

Thing is if it is a new version he won't want to be exposed. So chances are his conversations will be minimal. Which is still a win from the mass amount of dumb *** **** he would post daily.

Broast !:towel:

The Steelers TE problem is a LOT older than 10 years.

I remember Shannon Sharpe and John Elway winning an AFC Championship after they literally drew up a play in the dirt.

Kids gather around, I want you to see the correct use of the word literally. Soak it in,

This is one thing to get beat by a HOF TE...This is a another thing to get beat by Jared Cook!

Something to always remember for those of you fortunate enough to have season tix. My one weekend in San Fran will probably be comparative in price to the whole season for you. Enjoy!!!!!!

I remember Shannon Sharpe and John Elway winning an AFC Championship after they literally drew up a play in the dirt.

I remember Kordell Stewart throwing 3 picks with 1 fumble and the defense holding Elway to 18 of 31 for 210 yards 2 Tds and 1 Int. I also remember Norm Johnson missing a chip shot FG. Still they won 24-21. The defense did a decent job against Sharpe. He had 3 catches for 49 yards and 0 Tds. It's sad to know that if Cowher had a real QB he could have won at least 2 more SBs. There wasn't much in the draft at the time either.

That game, Vader (The 97 AFCC championship) was largely a result of good ole' Pete Carrol figuring out the glaring weakness in Stewart's game. Prior to that he'd been on a record setting tear for passing and rushing TDs. (I do believe he had more rushing TDs than passing TDs but still, he was having a great season.)

Then, in a wildcard game, Pete Carrol played a spy linebacker on Stewart and instructed him "The second he starts to run, abandon coverage and get him. He won't/can't pass after he starts to scramble." And that was it. Just like that Stewart became mediocre at best at the position.

And I STILL say that if Stewart had remained in the "Slash" position he likely would have gone down as one of the most loved Steelers ever.

Money. It's a cruel mistress.

Yet Tomlin as head coach never has found an answer for TE coverage

True, but the 'passing game' has evolved and the league forced us to change our 'hard hitting' defense into a soft under belly of an exposed turtle (if there is a thing)...let's at least attribute the changes w/ the complaints...

The Steelers TE problem is a LOT older than 10 years.

Short and medium passes have been their Achille's Heel since the days of Dick LeBeau.
