LONG Good Read on Bruce Arians

I liked the article, but that part about "attacking the weakness of the defense" is utter bullshit. The quote of "We don't call our plays based on the other teams injuries" after the SB loss to GB tells me all I need to know about how Bruce draws up the plays. That being said, he seems like a good guy, and I wish him the best.

I always thought The Bruce was a good QB coach but he sucked as an OC and play caller.

I agree. I'm sure he is a great guy but he had an offense and he ran it without any consideration of how best to attack weakness. I did not hate his offense (the actual plays), but I hates his approach.
 
He's been a helluva Head Coach.

I think he's done well as a Head Coach, but I'll wait to see how he does in the playoffs before I crown him.

Till then, he is who we thought he was!

11-5 with that roster/injuries and those QBs last year? Guiding Luck & Co. to playoffs when Pagano had cancer? He's done a helluva job as a HC. I didn't say HOF, but a helluva job nonetheless

He can't possibly be a decent head coach. All the geniuses on this site told us for years that he was basically a monkey who eats his own **** for breakfast.

But he did it with Pagano's players (that should stir the pot plenty)

I didn't have a problem with Arians, or his offense. It was his play calling that I had the issue with. The statements he made after the GB super bowl were very telling. So was the quote he had about scripting the first 20-25 plays every game no matter what.
 
We have not won a playoff game since Bruce left. He's a very good coach, not doubt about it.

Some people make better Coordinators than Head Coaches (Dick Lebeau comes to mind). It appears that the opposite is true for Arians.
 
Kelly Holcomb "It got to the point where I knew what plays he was going to call before he called them,"...too bad so did the rest of the NFL.

One thing can be said about "the Bruce"...his cockyness gets QBs killed. It's ironic that every Qb he ever coached has experienced the highest (or second highest in Peyton's case of sacks) and INTs in their careers with Bruce as their coach.

Peyton Manning: Int% 1998 - 4.9% (highest in his career), sack% 3.7% (second highest in his career)
Tim Couch: sacked 51 times in 2001 (most in career) threw 17 TDs and 21 Ints (most in career)
Ben :2006 threw 18 TDs, 26 Ints (most in his career) sacked an average of over 40x from '06-'11 w highest in his career in 2009 w 50 sacks.
Andrew Luck: Highest Int% in 2012 w 18 Ints. Sacked 41x
Carson Palmer: 2013, most Ints 22 and most sacks 41 in his career

Some QB whisperer...

BA was an outstanding QB Coach. He was a fantastic WR coach, and he has been a good head coach, but he is a miserable OC. That's held true in three NFL teams that had similar philosophy holes and weaknesses. his insistence on getting Ben killed in those back to back Philly- NYGiants games where the oline couldn't block anyone and ben had less than a second most plays yet the play was always calling for a deep shot first should be a staple watch for anyone who believed he was a good OC, particularly the post game comments for each and his reasoning behind the gameplan...

The thing that I found funny was that he said he put in 6 deep balls every game plan. There was also a section where he talked about it being 3rd and 3 and he told the QB to throw it deep...That brought back alot of memories.
 
That article should be held up as the standard ****-slobbering one-sided "journalism" piece for years to come.

Here here, don't insult my monkeys. Arians was my best customer. My one armed **** FLINGING monkeys had a better play calling plan than the "bruce" NONE of my monkeys ever ate their **** for breakfast.
