Tomlin is doing the same job he's always done...."good enough". Good enough to keep from having a really bad season and good enough to keep his job. Can we get a HC who would do better - yes. Can we get a HC who would do worse - almost certainly - look at the Clowns.

The combined record of Steelers opponents so far is 39-28, which works out to the 12th toughest schedule in the NFL. Also, the Steelers team had the @#$%ing Ravens beat, WITH A 3rd STRING QB, but for Juju's fumble. They also led the undefeated 49ers late, and very likely win but for a terrible Barron penalty.
This bullshit about the Steelers schedule being so easy is a steaming pile of crap by those too lazy to look it up. Know who has the EASIEST schedule in the NFL thus far?? The Bills, Cowboys, Patsies, and Dolphins. So where is a single goddamn comment about the Cowgirls feasting on ****** teams like the Foreskins, Dolphins and Giants??? Or the fact that the Patsies have played two winning teams so far and are 1-1 in those games??
we are who they said we were, after Ben went down. An average football team. Add to the multiple injuries, HCMT is doing a decent job. Not great, not bad. I am anxious to see how they handle Gurley, Goff and Donald.
Based on this , Reich is doing awesome.
But anyway.. I been here on these forums since the beginning in 99 or whatever. Ill be here in 10 years and we will be sitting here , dicks in hand with no championship , and Mike Tomlin at the helm. Maybe by then discussing criticism of him will be acceptable.

This chapter of this season's book isn't finished yet. While all of this regular season success(no losing seasons yet) our playoff record is horrific minus our last trip to a super bowl 11 years ago. Even our playoff wins have been laughable. That's my personal view. If you add that to my boiling anger of what the foxboro fags have done(and gotten away with) I'd say I'm less than happy watching them get made to look stupid over and over again.

Neither challenge was stupid. Had that BEEN ANY OTHER COACH both challenges would have been in their favor.
The defensive PI on Nelson was obvious that his head was back looking for the ball AND their feet got tangled ON AN UNCATCHABLE BALL!!! But you think it was a dumb challenge. Riiiiight...

Both calls were horrendous and the refs need to be fired for such a travesty.
I disagree. Those challenges were not on the HC or whoever decided to make the challenge calls. OPEN YOUR EYES - we got SHAFTED ON BOTH!!!

Coach Fitchner isn't the answer on offense. But, Ben likes him. We had a weird game plan yesterday and they stuck to it---no hate on Rudy but he missed some big plays down the field yesterday. Was he instructed to use the check down as his primary option? I don't know...
Our base defense is no longer the 3-4. The majority of teams today use a 3 WR set - which means we need more DB's on the field and less DT's or LB's - true or false??? I guess if we had LB's defending WR's we'd hear complaints on that...
How about we try looking a this season holistically rather than pinpointing errors here and there???
Both were too close to call to be described as getting shafted...and worse, the first was on pass interference, which the league has shown it will very rarely overturn. Then, after losing one time out, Tomlin doubles down and immediately challenges one for which replay was inconclusive at best. It was quintessential Tomlin and yes, it was idiotic. He was OBVIOUSLY emboldened by that rare success last week...
edited to add: actually, my bad - both were pass interference-related challenges. But this does not excuse Tomlin, given that the NFL has to date shown that it will err on the side of the original call when confronted with these challenge. Therefore, they were incredibly high risk challenges.

Reich has better back-up QBs. If we are comparing apples to apples of key players on IR, then he may be doing awesome. We all knew when Ben went down, Tomlin could go 1-15 and he was going to get a "Free Pass with No Ben".
I hear 'ya, but the replay announcer correctly pointed out that this was really the first DPI call challenged in part on the fact the ball was uncatchable - which it definitely was. Put that together with the rather ticky-tack contact, mostly hand fighting and feet getting tangled. Add to that the importance of the call - 35 yards from the 15 to midfield when leading by 2, where a reversal (should have happened) makes it 4th and 15? Good challenge.
The call standing confirms that Unca Al will not reverse DPI unless it helps the Patriots. True story.
Yeah, that challenge not as solid, but damn, it was close. I get that the timeout could be important there, no doubt, but once again, the timing makes a lot of sense since a reversal could mean getting a W rather than an L.
LMAO at the chest bumping for finally beating a team with a winning record. Their 3rd string QB put up 3 touchdowns on us and was a missed field goal away from walking out a winner. But I guess that's how you be great around here anymore. Tomlin and Butler wore out their welcome long ago, it's past time for a change.

We're far enough into the season to see that the only way they are ever going to overturn or change a call is if it is 100% clear and obvious. And seeing as how no one seems to know what PI is, I don't see a reason to waste a challenge on anything that could be even remotely construed as PI.

That ****** pass interference call I keep hearing they won't overturn them. So in that aspect it is a waste to even challenge. You wonder what was the point in making a rule that 99.9999 percent of the time won't be overturned. But that is dumbass goodell for you.

I don't know, man. Expending this much energy defending Tomlin's latest in a long line of gaffes widely understood to be a positively horrific track record of challenges is pretty bizarre. More bizarre is suggesting that the best strategy in these situations is to do something that aligns pretty closely with Einstein's definition of insanity: to do the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome each time.
But then again, you were right about Minkah, so who knows!?
