If college athletes are paid actual money, they become PROFESSIONAL athletes. College is not meant to be a PROFESSION unless of course you are a professor at said college.
Please spare me the “these poor kids are on strict regiments where they can’t earn a real degree” BS. Tell that to the student athletes at Stanford and Notre Dame and other schools that have strict GPA requirements. Remember Myron Rolle? Rhodes Scholar AND starting safety for Florida State Seminoles.
I’ve NEVER heard any player say, “I wanted to study medicine/law/engineering but they told me no because I’m an athlete. Outrageous.
My 8 year old son plays sports for his school. During games, they sell apparel and refreshments. They also have fundraisers throughout the year that go towards his sports, and also the school. So, my son and his classmates do ALL the work and play all the games that drive these sales. Yet these poor kids don’t see a dime of these profits. They don’t pay my kid one red cent of ALL the money they rake in. And the wife and I pay this private school tuition. My poor slave son. ( again, sarcasm....THICK ).
