Le’Veon is making the Front office look like fools

Announcers had it right, teams will just double and triple AB and dare Conner to run to beat them with no Bell

Conner 11 carries, 19 yds

Bell would have easily had 22 yards, dare I say maybe even 25.

Youre absolutely right.

However, they also apparently only offered him about a quarter of the guaranteed money that both of them received.

Gurley has to finish his current contract before the new one kicks in. If he gets hurt in the next two years... Poof! That is NOT a field-setting contract.

Personally, I don't care for Bell as a personality. I watch every single game and have for the past 30 years. This ENTIRE team plays at a higher level when Bell is playing and the defense is on the field for a much shorter period of time per game because Bell provides a ground game that can't be stopped. We would be no worse than 3-1 right now had he showed up and if you don't agree with that, you haven't been watching or don't understand the game. If he is healthy (and I know that's the big risk), he is worth $17M guaranteed. Period.

You're completely wrong on the record. Bell was TERRIBLE in his first 4 games back last year and he came into camp in GOOD SHAPE. He's going to be less than useless when he does finally sign and he'll probably immediately fake an injury.

And if you WERE going to give him his 17 million, which offensive linemen do you cut to pay for it? Pouncey? DeCastro? Villeneuava? Most likely all of them. You'd have to sign rookie minimum players to the line in order to pay for Bell. That's complete suicide.

Look Bell chose not to be here. He turned down the Steelers offer which was his right to do but don’t give the team and fans the impression you’ll be here a week prior to the opener like last year. That’s ******* bush league any way you slice it. So he lost credibility with his team and the fans as well as ownership.
And yes his absence is a huge relief for opposing defensive coordinators to have to plan for. Also no deep threat hurts AB and that was the value of Bryant. You had to account for him.
The Steelers could of and should have been prepared for life without Bell back in the spring.

Ya. Even though he rarely caught balls last year, you had to send somebody with him because he HAS caught them in the past.

Bryant is a bigger loss than we expected.

See that is the thing they didn't really try to replace him. They thought for some strange reason he wouldn't hold out.

Strange reason? He played last year under the franchise tag and he stands to lose upward of $9 million dollars by holding out. What is strange is Bell’s reasons for holding out.

That in itself is the real problem. Their lack of being prepared for anything. I try to think of any good move this club has made. It is few and far between. Perhaps drafting some decent potential QBs. But none of that is helping the team now. Maybe Bostic he is ok nothing special but ok. No real studs to mask ****** coaching. And ****** personnel decisions. This is really bad with no end to this suck in sight.

And we need to all realize we ain’t trading LevBell this year. It would be great to move him for a second round pick but that dog don’t hunt. Ain’t happening because LevBell won’t sign the tag in time prior to trade deadline. Why in the hell would he? To go play for the Jets or Colts and risk injury. That would contradict his entire point of staying away from us. He’s betting on himself for next years big contract.
If he comes back it’s week 11 but I’m thinking he foregoes the entire season. Steelers can’t afford to tag him again and tie up cap money they will need to fix this ****** up defense and he knows it.

He has to be available to play for 6 games in order to satisfy the contractual season. He CAN"T forgo the season as he would be "tag" elgible to the STEELERS. He will show up for six games but be "self" ineligible to play for some reason or another and if forced to play he will play cautiously to not get hurt. Out of football shape has a way of hurting yaz. You are right on all accounts as to NO TRADE as he won't sign nothing until week 11 that falls after trade deadline.

Bell being gone is the right direction to head this team, one less distraction.

No he wanted more then 10 million guaranteed. Thats it. Because nothing else after the signing bonus matters..

Almost. Isn't the 1st year of a deal pretty much guaranteed as well? I mean, short of crapping on Rooney's desk, you aren't going to be cut year 1 of a big deal, and maybe not year 2 either. But after that, non-guaranteed seasons are mostly window dressing (but Pgh tends to honor them in the majority of cases).

PS If Tomlin was serious about regaining control of this team he would practice BELL but NO HAT on game day. Also set the tone for several "ALL" other players of behavioral management and actually follow through with accountability. That will never happen due to who he (Tomlin) is and what he is about. Also multiple coaches would need to be gone like right now durring the season. This may sound drastic but this team is in need of drastic repair. The most sure fired way to reclaim this team is to cut TOMLIN and some staff imeadiately while promoting our OL to interim HEAD COACH. Under NO circumstance would BELL be retained or negotiated with. He would be Roster exempt for the maximum 2-weeks with out pay and then hope he walked off.

But let’s say he says screw it I’m not signing the tag. Do you think that the Steelers would tag him again and tie up all that money needed to sign free agent players?

The front office looks foolish in not addressing a defense that cannot get off the field. They look foolish that they have no made an example out of a player or coach by letting them go. Please there has to be someone out there that can either light a fire under a defense or last night have some imagination on an offense we feel has talent and not all being used. Bell is far from the answer on how this team is playing. The fool is Bell leaving this cash on the table

Of Course they would and why not??? They get him at sane price tag as this year and could change tag designation. WIN for the STEELERS.

I originally thought the non exclusive tag, but next year might be just better to let that cat go. And bring some talent in on both sides of the ball.

The Steelers offered Bell more than many wanted them to. He turned it down. Good players for the Steelers earn their contracts with the team, so Bell wasn't betting on himself to achieve that.
