Yeah if he signs is he actually going to get reps against the Jags?
Hell no. Who knows if he’ll even be in shape, he definitely won’t be football shape.

Even if he reports he should play until he has at least 2-3 weeks of practice under his belt. Maybe Fichtner can work him into some plays out of the slot to throw everyone off guard for a playoff run. I remember a big part of our playoff success in 05 was Cowher/Whiz ditching the conservative ground/pound and having Ben come out slinging early, especially to Heath. I think having a slate of plays with both Le’veon and James on the field that no one has seen until the playoffs could be a huge advantage for us

Agreed. Cannot understand why he hasn’t just come out and said what he plans to do - end all this media speculation and misinformation.
Also, don’t understand why he has obviously decided to push this thing to the 11th hour. The trade deadline is passed, he’s made his point. Why isn’t he in the locker room. Sure makes it look like he has zero interest in being in the trenches with his brothers. Can’t imagine that won’t cause animosity when he returns.

Bell has become such an afterthought to me I hadn't thought about him in weeks, let alone speculated when he could return. He is now a non essential part of the team thanks to Conner, so the media blitz about him to me is irrelevant and boring. I feel the same way I would if the media was speculating about the return of Mewelde Moore or Rashard Mendenhall to the Steelers backfield. Bell's been off the team for a year in my mind already, so it feels like speculating about a former Steeler as opposed to a current one.

I was all for Bell never playing another snap ever again for us, but anymore I hope he does report. He will be the #2 guy. Spell Conner. After a few games I would even build his touches for each game. This is not about anything but winning a SB. Bell is a talent. In the end I think he might just sit out the whole season with all the confusion over the CBA. No way the Rooney's tag him again even if they could retag him with a 2nd franchise tag instead of the 3rd. As someone above stated. Way too much drama for a player who doesnt want to be here. At this point in the season I as a fan feel this team is playing for each other. Not themselves as it seemed the last few seasons. Certain players are now buying into "TEAM" first not me first.
Some here might think if Bell does come back he would/could start issues. EVERY player on this team stands behind Conner. No way Bell can create an issue. At this point he is an afterthought to them.

The only thing that would set me off about this Bell business is if they reinsert him as the #1 and bench Conner. I think they are way smarter than that but I would be irate if that happens.
My only interests are these:
1. Can he help the team get #7?
2. What picks, if any, will the team get for him when he's finally gone?

The absolute best scenerio for the STEELERS would be for him to NOT show up this season. Next season, trains-TAG and move him. If he does sign, then use his talent in a back up role but also he has to want to be there, which I think he will and behave. AND for those who think he can NOT fulfill Fran-tag #2 and skip to #3 are mistaken.

Bell had great games against Miami (about 170 rushing) and KC (170rush 108 rec) before getting hurt early in the NE game in that playoff run a few years ago.
Another interesting point when discussing the transition tag. The team can have someone set the value of Bell, sign him, then trade him back to that team for a draft pick.

I believe his agent has convinced young "Wake 'N Bake" that even if he sits the entire season and forfeits close to $14 million, he'll surely recoup that and more with a long term deal via FA.
I really can't wait to see how that scenario plays out.
Why? If the asshat does show, in game shape and can comprehend the playbook; why not use the chooch to justify his game check. I don't think he would be in any kind of game shape and the last OC he played for was FA King Todd Haley! I don't see it happening.
Possibly but if he sits the entire season then the Steelers can still tag him again next year. If he wants to be a FA after this season then he has to show up next week. In hindsight where the Steelers messed up was in giving him an exclusive tag instead of a non-exclusive tag.

The info out there is stating the loophole found in the CBA will make the franchise tag the Steelers place on Bell next season the 3rd tag(franchise) if he plays or doesn't play. So unless the Steelers want to pay him $25 mill plus on the franchise tag next season he will be a FA regardless of whether he plays or doesn't play.
Biggest head scratcher to me was Colbert decision on which tag. Just made no sense after his late show last season.

What makes no sense is the fact anyone should care, Bell does not want to be here so why all the hype. Don't hold your arms out wide when Bell continues to show true side as he does not show up.. Goodbye who cares move on.
