Leveon Bell is Adrian Peterson

Tomlin's plan...................run him till the wheels fall of.........about two more years so the double franchise tag would do it.

Yeah exactly Iron City that is my point. I think he is a tremendous player just as Peterson was. But then it is one injury after another. You carry the ball 30 times a game in this league for 5 years you are going to get hurt. He is probably wanting 13 to 15 million. I just dont know.

I'd say back load the contract but I feel Bell is a thinking man and is ahead of that game. He wants the money and wants it now. I think he realizes his wheels will be falling off sooner than later under the Tomlin RB plan. He also realized the franchise attachment. Both parties know of the fine line they are dancing. I just hope we don't endept our future to him as a broken RB still getting paid.

Quoted for the truth. Frontload or keep big $ but short. Team will be ****** when Ben is done anyways.
Other option would be longer contract with high guarentee lower base. When Ben is gone a whole lot of Cap will open and dead money wont matter so much.

Did I read where Bell has until Monday to sign or he is franchised tagged??? So I wonder how it's going for the deal to get done. I haven't seen him in his "RAP" makin studio so maybe he spendin his time on the negotiation line.....

Report: Steelers still hoping to strike long-term deal with Bell
Dan Wilkins Jul 14, 2017 2:52 PM
The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to have their sights set on an 11th hour deal with their star running back.

As Monday's deadline to negotiate with franchise-tagged players fast approaches, Pittsburgh is still hoping to reach a long-term agreement with Le'Veon Bell, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports, citing sources.

More to come.

There was no reason for either side to settle on a deal prior to 3:45pm Monday.

11th hour?? The 11th hour, is September, because that's when the Steelers stop negotiating contracts.

Side note. I hate notifications that say, Steelers are looking to do something, or a player might do this. Give me the notification when it actually happens. Until then, I am severely nonplussed.

I could certainly by misundertanding but I thought if tgey cant get the deal done by Monday that he had to sign the tag and both sides had to live with it.

That is what I understand...If they can't work out a deal by then he plays on the price of the tag.

And furthermore he has the option to actually play the games or sit till a certain date and get a prorated salary. However it would be square one for both sides next year when he is tagged again and I dont forsee that.

Tick Tock............Tick Tock..................

I thought for sure a deal would get done by the deadline, but looks like he might just play under the tag.

Steelers still hoping for deal with Le'Veon

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers are expected to "press" negotiations with franchise player Le'Veon Bell toward Monday's deadline.

Per Fowler, the Steelers can "entice" Bell by offering him a substantial signing bonus while protecting themselves in case of another suspension. Bell has yet to sign his $12.1 million franchise tender, which allows him to hold out without facing any financial repercussions.

The Steelers have around $16 million in available cap space, which is more than enough to strike a long-term deal with Bell. There's been no evidence that the sides are close but deadlines often spur action, so perhaps the Steelers and Bell can work something

I just dont see this deal getting done. Hopefully Bell will still play hard I dont imagine he will fight through injuries.

or he could sit out

I predict we will see a LOT of James Conner till Sept

Deadline Day for Le'Veon Bell. Does he get his contract or does he play on the one year tag? Or worse yet, does he hold out (not a good strategy when today is the deadline for a new deal).

If Bell holds out and Connor plays well, Bell loses value IMHO.

Not exactly comparable, but DeAngelo Williams played well when Bell was out. He didn't lose any value and the same can be said even if Conner balls out. Bell has such a unique skill set that very few, if any, can match his abilities in the NFL right now.

Must be a lot more to this than we as fans know. I think we all thought a deal was for sure BUT BUT BUT, Bell has had some problems and injuries which may be bigger than we know. The Steelers are on that year that they could win it all, with the experience on offense and many of you all think the defense is close. Yet we now hear rumbles out of Bryant, his thoughts on Ben, and now no contract on Bell. Yes we have if's once more.

Just like I perdicted

Le'Veon could hold out until mid-late August

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, unsigned franchise player Le'Veon Bell may not report to Steelers camp until "mid-to-late August."

As Bell has not signed his $12.1 million franchise tender, he is not obligated to report to training camp or any football activities.
