Le’Veon Bell a No-Show at Team’s Voluntary Offseason Workouts

First- Yea, the Steelers offered him a good contract- but the contract they offered (even the Franchise tag) is less than he would get in the open market.

Second- You dont trade one of your best players. Like it or not, the offense goes as Leveon goes. You really think its easy to replace a franchise player like him in FA or the draft?

He is a great running back, no doubt, one of the best in the league. But I respectfully think you're overvaluing him. I don't believe the offense goes as Leveon goes. I think you could still get very good production from a number of decent backs. Brown and especially Ben are MUCH more important to the offense. And fine, trade him to a team that will give him what he deserves. The fact is, the Steelers have been MORE than patient with him throughout his career. Multiple injuries, suspensions, etc, and he repays them like this? He's great, but he's not THAT important. And his BS will hurt the team.

You ******* and your weak *** whiny bitching will be on your knees kissing his feet when he is the BEST RB in the league again, running AND catching passes, he's the best in the league and it's our honor to have him.

I don't give a **** about money, PAY THE MAN!

Our honor? You've got to be ******* kidding me.....

And paying him his asinine demands will hurt the rest of the team salary cap wise. I don't want to throw away a Super Bowl chance to make one unreliable, ungrateful player happy (at least for now). Screw him.

Bell, Brown and Ben ARE our SB hopes - the best of the best of the best - and you front offiice *** kissing hicks want to throw him away?

hahahaha, salary cap? - kick the deadweight fatbodies on the DL! - that haven't won ANY games for us - kick them all and get waiver wires scrubs, they are just as good - the defense is broken beyond repair for the next decade, and please, no more Jarvis Dupree draft picks

As Spike said-

Our best (and maybe only) bet for a SB in the near future relies on the shoulders of the 3 B's.

Which is why we all should by praying that all three play for as long together as possible.

Its a shame how some 'fans' are getting upset with this.

"How DARE he become the best RB in the league?"
"Who cares what you and the rest of the league thinks you're worth, you OWE us!"

Just wait until Juju is up for contract negotiations. I can see the heel turn now...

**** that. He's being offered MILLIONS more dollars than the next closest guy. It is approaching double what the next closest guy is going to make. **** that dude. Best in the game, no doubt... But he's also about to be unbelievably overpaid

How can injuries be held against him? And also if he isnt that important to the offense why is everyone up in arms about him holding out til the season starts. We should be able to overcome him having a slow start because he isnt that important anyway. Brown and Ben and whomever plays RB should be able to keep things going til Bell is ready to go.

I actually think that's true, for the most part. Is Bell an important piece? Yes, I don't think anybody's really doubting that. But I think some people are greatly overstating his importance. He's not worth the cap space he's demanding. Plain and simple. Would we be AS dynamic without him? No. But we can get another decent RB or two, and the offense would still be pretty damn good. Plus, we can used that saved cap space to better the defense. I am NOT advocating cutting him, I think that would be the worst move. But if we could get him to agree to sign with the intention of trading, and get something of good value, I think it benefits the team. I'm not saying the injuries are his fault, but you HAVE to factor them into the decision, as you would for any player. And the suspensions ARE his fault, and the team showed loyalty to him.

With all that said, as long as he's a Steeler, I'll be rooting like hell for him to have a great season and help the team. I don't question his effort when he's on the field, I just think he has a greatly inflated sense of his own value.

You can have all the killer B's you want. Isn't gonna matter when the defense is giving up 45 a game to scrubs like Blake Bortles.

This is undoubtedly their last year together, if it gets that far. At $17 million per, the Steelers aren't resigning him. They made their offers. None of them were $17 million.

You factor them if they are his fault. Like not training enough.. they showed loyalty because of his talent. Again its business. Lets not make it to be some grand gesture. So if thats the case there should be no let down when the season start. We should come out humming. Especially since this would be the second season in a row. HE ISNT THAT IMPORTANT

That's an indictment on the front office and their horrific draft busts on defense, not the offense!

If Ben Bell and Brown can get us 40 pts, then it's up to the fat lazy overpaid slobs on defense to keep them under 30!

Why the hell would he show up with no contract???

I know this board thinks Bell is an idiot, but he's not THAT dumb!!!

Defense gave up at max 35 points. We gifted them 10-14, that had little, if anything, to do with Bortles.

I don't really care one way or the other if he's back after next year or not. If they give in to his financial demands then fine. If they tell him to piss off that's fine too.

The Jags beat us both times and scored a lot of points both times. Now the first game the offense really stunk, but the second game we put up a ton of points against a supposed top defense. The defense could not get a stop in the playoff game. Even if we spotted them 21 points the Jags terrible offense still put up 24 points. Now I agree Bortles was not spectacular and only put up 216 yards, but his yards per pass was actually higher than Bens and he also made a throw when needed. They were 8-14 on 3rd down and 1-1 on 4th down. Everytime we scored the defense let them go right down the field. Bell and his 15 million are going to do NOTHING to help that. We will be fine w/ a different back or 2 different backs. We will not be fine with a defense that is soft up the middle.

Not gonna happen

I'd expect the 5 INT's the first game (2 for TD) had more to do with the first loss than anything else.

This is Bell's last season, no matter what. The Steelers and Bell have discussed long-term deals for going on 3 years, and it is not getting done. The Steelers are not going to pay Bell $15 million per year for multiple years, and Bell has made it clear he is not going to play for $12 million per season.

So draft a RB in the 2nd (which sucks because the defense needs the help), somebody like Michel, or perhaps Penny in the 3rd. Rookie RB's can excel in the NFL. Hope that Conner learned to pick up the blitz this offseason and during training camp. Learn to move on from Bell, since he and the Steelers are at the end of their time together.

Do I agree with Spike that Bell is the best RB in the NFL? Yes. Is Bell a far superior blocker and pass receiver than any rookie they get or Conner? Yes. Does that change the fact that Bell is not going to be a Steeler after this season?

No.

I wouldn't pay Bell $15 M per season either. That is ridiculous for a RB when they can be drafted or found via free agency for far less. $15 M ties up a TON of salary cap space for the team. If anything, it is selfish on Bell's behalf to demand that money when it hurts the team. Clearly he doesn't care. I'd either franchise tag him again this year or trade him for another RB and picks or a defensive secondary player and picks.

I see YOU are NEW to the game.......................

Salute the nation

Le'Veon continues to disrespect the Steelers organization, his team mates and all the hardworking fans that pay out the nose to watch him play a sport. No one player is more important than the team. So, for that reason alone, I'm out!

I’m no Bell apologist, but this is a voluntary workout session. He’s not under contract, and it’s voluntary. This would be non newsworthy event, if it weren’t for the contract situation. Troy rarely participated in these voluntary sessions and OTAs, preferring to work out in SoCal. It was accepted then.

The situation is what it is, Bell thinks he deserves 17/year (for the moment, he has changed his mind frequently since last July). The Steelers offered him 13.5/year with guaranteed dollars the first 2 two years and almost twice the amount the next RB is currently getting. If doesn’t sign the deal, he will play under the tag. If he wants to assure himself of the 17/year next FA, and being a year older, he better play lights out like in 2017. The Steelers will benefit from it. Regardless, he’s is going to be the Bell cow for the offense in 2018 and will have another 380+ touch season. If Bell gets some stupid front office to give his demands, he better hope he has a line in front of him with a bunch of pro-bowlers. Otherwise, as compensation, we will receive 2 picks, possibly a 3 & 5, or some have suggested two 3’s depending on the contract.
