To think Ben was light years ahead all.of those guys in wisdom and behavior is quite hysterical when you think about it

OMG can you imagine that O with any one of our great Ds at the same time? Would have been a God darn dynasty
 
As you read this please remember Im not making excuses for any of these guys. They are stupid. Its just I think while those of us who didn't have millions and millions of marketable athletic skills matured......we all figured some life **** out. Many of these guys just did not. Like how can you have 50 million dollars in career earnings and be broke. Simple. You keep living like you did when you earned that 50 million
 
I'd be curious what type of education each franchise provides their players if any on money management and financial planning. Look at AB.....he filed for bankruptcy last year I think. They need some ex players as role models to beat it into their brains not to be buying Lambos and diamond necklaces. Whatever the NFL is doing they ain't doing enough. The more wealth these guys keep and are able to leverage into the future the better the NFL is. I realize dummies are dummies but the numbers behind former NFL players finances are dreadful. Frankly I'd make it mandatory They take classes

The league has symposiums on this stuff... players go bankrupt 3 ways

1. They live frivolously and above their means...
2. They try to invest in things to make them richer instead of safe, simple investments and lose it all
3. They get in criminal trouble and get sued till they are bankrupt..


This is drilled into their heads with ample examples, but they are adults and make their own terrible decisions
 
The athletic prowess of these guys is what got them to not have to be held accountable for their decisions / action.

Parents / Coaches / Schools / Athletic organizations / Peers amongst others, turned their sights the other way in the name of winning.

Everything done for them, studies / mannerisms / integrities / to name a few, were compromised in the name of winning.

Finally, Life has to hold them accountable and with a lot of these players it’s in the form of money accountability.

I agree that more should be done, but at some point the individual has to hold some responsibility in the mannor.

The NFL does have financial classes during the Rookie introduction to the NFL.

The “Lottery” provides NO financial training to the winners, nor should they.

ALSO in those classes, they stress very heavily in NOT using “Family” as their financial / investor advisors.

I remember reading articles (different times) stating this very clearly.

Have you seen the podcasts recently with OBJ and some others talking about how they can't live off their contracts? I only saw summaries but you gave a real good breakdown of some easy things to avoid to stay wealthy. If someone told me I had to spend $10 million in a year, I wouldn't know what to spend it on.

Symposiums.......yeah but what ongoing program do they have thoughout the life of a player's career? Something that is consistent and it can't just be financial matters. It should delve into psychotherapy to get underneath the true nature of their dysfunction that causes them to spend like retards. If you don't get down to the root of their issues, the symposiums won't do squat. I realize some of these guys are tools and want to look and dress like millionaires but that's just because they were probably raised by numnuts. I just wonder which franchise does the best with helping players. I am sure they all have counseling services and stuff. Just wonder who employs cutting edge programs.

It is supplied and mandatory. Smoking a couple doobies before class however was optional. Our dear friend Leveon definitely partook.

Additionally, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) partners with major wealth management firms, like the Morgan Stanley NFLPA Program, to offer athletes personalized financial planning and resources to manage their wealth during and after their careers. [1]

They overspend. Look at Sheddur, he drives a Rolls. Makes sense, huh! Their family members coerce them into giving them credit cards and wild spending ensues.

Did your employer offer financial education classes to you? Yea. Mine didn't either. Any person can educate themselves in that area.

I remember when OLB named Worilds quit the nfl after 5 seasons. Perfectly healthy. Played his 5th year under the franchise tag. Big bucks. He walked away. What did he do? He went back to his small town in Alabama and bought a car wash, dry cleaner, fast food joint, etc. Cash flow. He sits by the pool sipping Somolian wine and accountants pay for it all.

The only smart one.

The old adage: you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink" comes to mind...

Also "a fool and his money are soon parted"

90% of athletes at this level grow up broke, then are spoiled and entitled all through high school and college, and hit the job market making more money in a year than the vast majority make in a lifetime.. its a recipe for absolute disaster...

Athletes should set up trust funds for themselves when they hit 45... live on a meager 250 k per year and then retire early.. even scrubs are making a million per year these days.. there is no excuse for the bankruptcy numbers
 
How many of these athletes will contribute to their kids Trump accounts? The kid could have money for education.

Sonny Hostin kid , Harvard grad, just got in trouble because he can't read signs and follow rules.

A recent news report claims that 31% of students that graduate with a bachelor's degree can't read at the 10th grade level.

Killer Bee teams were the best to watch, prob the best team to never win anything thanks to Tomlin.
Think about that offense vs any of the New england superbowl winning teams offense. SMH
