With the Steelers bringing in Strong, Coates. And some tight ends it wouldn't surprise me if they went wr or te in the first 3 rounds. Especially if you look at the offensive problems that occurred last season. Yes we moved the ball well but struggled mightily in the red zone. Thoughts?

WR possibly, first three rounds doubtful

Maybe somewhere between 4 and 6..... for it to be earlier I think the value would have to be clearly better from every other position other than QB.

The Steelers do their best drafting at the position so that factors in in their decision making I am sure.............

New DC, a area of the team that is starving for talent, we will see OLB,CB, and S early if all things again remain relatively value equal.

We bitched about red zone weakness for years going back to when The Bruce was OC. The offense is better under the Toddster but after three years red zone scoring is still an issue.

Perhaps if Bryant wins the number two spot that helps a little. And Bell being healthy down the stretch wouldn't hurt either.........

I think it's a matter that the reconstituted OL is better at pass blocking than run blocking and they don't mix it up in the red zone enough and rely too much on the pass. The opposing D knows they want to pass more often than not plus they have less field to cover.

Not too worried about the red zone. More worried about Bell staying in shape and our defense

With Heath, AB, Bell out of the backfield and Bryant's height, this team should be damn good in the red zone. It's all about coaching, calling the right plays and execution. It needs to happen this year. If it does, this O WILL put up 30 plus per game.

They need to get better. Too many times over the past several years they only came away with 3 or gave up a turnover.

I'm in the minority that thinks we need another WR. Probably not first round, as I feel that has to be used to address CB or OLB. With that said, I wouldn't be that upset with a WR pick in the 2nd. Brown is a beast, and I love how Bryant looked as a rookie. Wheaton? Well, we don't really know. I know he's got "potential" but hasn't really shown anything yet. Hopefully he will. Even if he does, we really have nothing behind those three.

I think this is going to be the best offense we have ever seen. Bryant and Wheaton should be much better this year. I think both of them can have incredible years which of course will help Brown not get dbl teamed

Ahhh BRUCE, is that you??? WE NEED DEFENSE, you say OLB or CB, thats two rounds right there. I hear what you are saying, but sooner or later you have got to address the defense, a whole bunch.

I agree IRON City, I'm just saying that if a top WR falls in the second, and none of remaining DBs or OLBs seem worth that spot, I'd be okay with it. But yeah, overall, this has to be a defense heavy draft.

This might bring us back to the old chestnut of having a roadgrader/battering ram fullback. Of course if said fullback could catch passes out of the backfield that would be good too.

Bryant looked very good when in and proved he is not a one trick pony. He only played half a season. He should be much better next year.

Wheaton didn't end up playing much his rookie season due to injuries. He did play last year and proved to be a good WR already. He also is not a one trick pony. He should be better next year also.

Ben planned to take these guys out to practice again this offseason. I hope that happens.

All three have very good speed and can take the top off of defenses and they can run routes. This trio, if healthy, along with Heath and Bell should be as potent as any in the league. That is, if they are used properly by Haley. I am still not convinced on him being a good play caller. We have had too many inconsistencies there and especially in the red zone. They need to play to score on every possession and not just to possess the ball and see what happens. The mindset from Haley on down needs to be to score with every series - period.

Yaz see, that is the difference between this coaching staff and the last coaching staff. Bill seemed to have us in a position, to take the Best Player Available. Coach Tomlin, doesn't seem to have us in this position, as ,much. Jarvis is a good example, just to name one. We seem to reach for a need, more often than not. I just BPA is on "D" when we come up to draft.

They do need to get better. They were 19th in both red zone offense and defense. But that's not the whole story because Seattle was 20th in both and Oakland was 1st in offense. (% td's)

Is that because Bill had a worse record and was drafting lower?

I don't have a problem drafting for a need but their talent evaluation and the type of player they seem to draft on defense seem to suck.

I'll tell you what worries me about this offense and that its their inconsistency. At times last year they looked unstoppable but far too many times they looked pedestrian and sluggish. I think that we need to be careful here with how much faith we put into this offense. We still have problems in the red zone scoring TD's and until we solve that I will not be completely sold on the offense.

When it comes to concerns for 2015 that were once issues, Red Zone offense is not one of them -- the reasons why are plentiful:
The team that started the season last year that REALLY struggled in the red zone was not the team the finished the season in many ways - maturity, turnovers and improving in the the red zone

It was the Houston Texans game when the offense began to find itself, especially in that 2nd quarter with the 24 point explosion. Granted, 2 of the TDs came off turnovers and were just punching them in, but its still scoring the TD. And in that game Antonio Brown had a TD taken away in the red zone that was iffy.

In the first 6 games of the season, the Steelers scored a TD in 7 of 19 red zone trips, twice failing on downs and another pair of INTs -- that's 37% TDs
In the last 10 games of the season, the Steelers scored a TD in 22 of 37 red zone trips, with only 1 missed FG and 2 INTs. When you consider one of those trips was a kneel down -- that's 60% TDs. (There were another 3 TDs that were between 21 and 25 yards long as well -- the killer game was the Jets...ugh.)

Do those numbers need to go up, I would say yes. But I'll like to think that is not our weakness or a huge point of concern.

If anything, I wish we would replace Suisham. He's got an accurate leg but they are a dime a dozen anymore. Get the guy outside of 45 yards and its russian roulette at best! I'd like to have the option of kicking a 50 yard FG and making it!

I wish they would sign a kicker who also punts or a punter who also kicks. There are a few good ones in this draft and at least we could get a few more touchbacks even if we keep Suisham.
