No we are strong because the immigrants use to give up their first countries to buy into the American culture. Even if 100% of the early U.S. was from one country and one culture it would still have worked. And for the most part it was because even if they came from different countries they still believed in the same thing. Just throwing a bunch of different people together doesn't mean ****. There have always been nations of immigrants. But that didn't make Rome great. It killed them because the Germanic tribes were more German than they were Roman. That's what is happening here today. You have millions of Mexicans and S. Americans that hate this country and are just taking advantage of it. That doesn't make us strong. It makes us weak and we are soon to be in a world of hurt because of it.

By 2050, the unofficial..official language will be Spanish, and the white race will be a minority, if you compare against all other races listed in the census. What I mean is that white vs all other, the all other will tally up higher than the white.

It is a reality, that is one reason I always promoted to my children, when they were of school age, to learn Spanish. It has actually help my oldest daughter receive promotions in her field of work which is education...Oh yeah, I forgot, most of you have issues with educators also. Sorry for bringing that up.

Didn't mean to hijack my own post...Back to the subject at hand, the bottom line is "it is what it is" folks...This country is in for some huge changes in the upcoming decades. At some time in the not so distant future, America will not look, feel, act, govern, speak, educate(history), etc...as it does today.

steel dino's take on all this, if any of you give a rat's ***.....My grandparents immigrated from Italy in the early 1920's searching for better life, for them and also their decedents. I am forever grateful and in debt to them for that, because their intent worked. And I believe as America continues to naturally evolve, it still will be the greatest country on earth for my children, grandchildren, and then great-grandchildren.

Remember, what makes us unique and the most powerful country on earth, is that we are all not the same socially, culturally, lifestyle choices, religiously, politically, etc & etc....and what makes this all work...is ultimately our acceptance of each others differences.

To sum it up - "We are ALL Americans". Period.

If there are people that feel guilty or indifferent because of past indiscretions, that's their prerogative.

I didn't get that at all. Where did he say "We are ALL Americans". Period. He said that the reason we are great is because we aren't all the same. Which is totally wrong IMHO. What makes the country great is that we had a unifying culture. We are losing that. If people think that a country can stand while the new citizens hate the country then they are in for a great awakening.
 
My question. If this was a white man shot, would it say unarmed white man or unarmed man.

I don't feel white privilege, and I certainly don't feel white guilt. Maybe this guy has done things in his life that he should feel guilty about. That doesn't mean the rest of us should, purely based on the color of our skin.
Wouldn't that make his assertion racist then?
 
I see me struggling paycheck to paycheck as a result of me being white.
 
I do, however, see that extra bag of money showing up on my back doorstep as an extension of my white privilege.
 
I walk around day to day 100%guilt free and have middle finger to anyone who thinks i should be feeling bad about myself for my skin color or heritage. Be accountrable for your own ****.

7 dead, 34 wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago

Seven people have been killed and at least 34 others wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday afternoon, police said.

Most recently, a 16-year-old boy was shot to death Sunday evening in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

A police source said the teen was a documented gang member.
