Let me tell you one got damn thing..

Is claypool #2 and does that mean diontae "better than AB" johnson is #3?

4, after Washington.

18 needs to be moved down the depth chart to #5.

Just because Claypool had a huge day and Dionte got hurt doesn't mean Dionte suddenly sucks, the dude had a very good rookie year with garbage qbs throwing to him, he led league in separation. Instead of using one guys injury to talk up another guy we should be pumped it looks like Ben has some damn weapons

I'm just real glad they got a legit first round in the second because Minkah Fitzpatrick sure as **** is not playing like one and I think you can over under his teammate meltdown at 4 or 5 more games.

Claypool showed signs of being excellent in his first 3 NFL games, In game 4 he played better than Johnson can dream, of.

Coming into the draft I liked 3 WR's a lot. They were Ruggs, who I hoped would be there for us in round two, Jefferson who looked that smooth and clutch along with fast, and Claypool who I felt had early first round tools.

While all three players are doing well as rookies, I now believe the Steelers got the best wide receiver in the 2020 draft which was very deep at receiver.

Why did the Steeler pick a WR with our top pick? We will likely lose Ju-ju in free agency, and they don't view Johnson or Washington as a good #1 or #3 starting combination.

I like Johnson, ( when healthy ) as #3 WR this year, not as go to man, a red zone threat, or a deep threat. Claypool checks all three of those boxes, plus he's a monster blocker and as we saw good option as a surprise runner.

Teams aren't targeting Fitz's coverage man often. And why would they?

Claypool has definitely stepped up, but i guarantee he will warrant much more attention from now on. The announcer ripped PHI for putting an LB on him the last TD. To me his best catch was a short slant where the CB had tight coverage and in think it was the eagles best cover guy. With Claypool things for JuJu and DJ (or whoever) should open up more. As for Minkah I didn't expect a repeat of last year, but he is basically invisible. Not sure if our coaching ruined him or we just caught lightning in a bottle last year

If Claypool is not the starter next week, Tomlin should be fired immediately!!

One thing I think Tomlin is acutely aware of is he needs a good relationship with Ben.

Ben probably wants Claypool in the game more often, so it should happen. Claypool and Ju-Ju should start with either Ebron or Johnson being the #3 option for match us. This year Washington looks better than Johnson so saying Johnson is now the #4 or even #5 option is very plausible.

I do not underestimate Tomlin's self-preservation skills.

That is pure horseshit. He is a free safety and they are getting rinsed over the middle. He ****** stood in sand covering grass on that one TD. And at bare minimum he should be able to bracket the one ****** receiver they had and eliminate him You can play that they are not targeting his man. No he is a Free Safety on a team that plays a ton of zone. He is playing ***. Sorry

Chase is a bona fide pro. 4 touchdowns, physical.
Seeing him fight for the ball on those sideline catches was a thing of beauty.
Should alleviate some pressure off of JuJu.

I’ll also say on the defensive side of the ball.
The Steelers are just a dominant NT away from being a very scary defense.
The linebackers are there, the secondary is there. The line is pretty good, but missing that Casey Hampton plug this defense needs

I have to disagree a bit here, the run defense has been very good. The team is missing a free safety that can ball hawk and tackle. I don't see any quarterback avoiding Minkah, hopefully, he gets his mojo back because he isn't a bad player, something just isn't right currently.

Papillon

I think the term starter is unnecessary, What is a starter. However, he should be in all two WR sets. He is amore physical in blocking and more dangerous if you win play action and get him one on one.

Agreed, Pap. It's no coincidence they've been dominant against the run since Alualu took over. Hines57 right again, Hargrave was a liability against the run. They need to get that secondary figured out quick.

Teams use so many 3-4 receiver sets nowadays that the term "starting WR" no longer means what it used.

Claypool may very well be the best WR on the team already. The kid might not even have a ceiling.

You can always identify the starters in 2 receiver sets..

As a huge Notre Dame fan I got to witness all of this the last couple of years. I was so ******* happy to see him drafted by the Steelers. The kid can and will do everything to help this team win. Awesome game young man!!!
