Lebeau to the Cardinals?

lots of stories

Former Steelers DC Dick LeBeau Set To Join Arizona Cardinals In Unique Role

Lt’s called “Steelers West” for a reason. For many years, the Arizona Cardinals have served as something of a retirement home for Pittsburgh Steelers players and staff who have presumably passed their prime. The redbirds have done nothing to quell that stereotype this offseason, with heavy speculation that Dick LeBeau is set to follow in the footsteps of former Pittsburgh alumni out west.

However, all signs point to LeBeau not taking the vacant defensive coordinator position in Arizona. The spot opened up when the blitz-happy and extremely successful Todd Bowles took the head coaching job with the New York Jets.

Following his mutual separation with the Steelers, Lebeau, 77, was adamant that this change was merely a resignation, not a retirement. He is now expected to take on a “senior position” with the Cardinals, not unlike the role played by assistant coach and fellow septuagenarian Tom Moore.

Moore is technically listed as an “offensive consultant” with Arizona. He does not call plays or coordinate formations, but is always down by the sidelines laying his wisdom upon any player who needs it. The Cardinals could gain an early competitive edge by bringing in LeBeau to fill the same role on the other side of the ball. His once-innovative defensive scheme may have passed the league by, but nobody else in the NFL shares his level of first-hand experience.

The move would reunite LeBeau with Bruce Arians, the former Pittsburgh OC come head coach, and Larry Foote, a stalwart of the Black and Gold defense during its recent years of dominance. The Steeler reunion might not be over yet. When asked if he would follow LeBeau to another team, aging Steelers corner Ike Taylor simply replied, “Jesus had disciples.” That tells you all you need to know about how revered “Coach Dad” still is in the Steel City.

You can't call them Steelers West anymore because they are better than the Steelers.

I guess if you wanted to you could call the Steelers the 'Future Cardinals.'

Well, I do wish Dick L. The best, unless they are playing us, then fluck him. Just my point of view. How do you think Reothlisberger would against his ol "D" ?
