Lawrence Timmons visiting Dolphins Thursday

#94 is a Florida man just trying to get paid. He earned his way as a Steeler. Respect and best of luck.
I got his jersey when he was a rookie knowing he was a keeper. Damnit another one getting framed and up on the wall!

I think we have a weaker defense without him. I agree he is a liability in coverage, but that is on the coaches.

I bet he leaves. He went to Fls State. He will take the $$$.

If Timmons leaves, send the Eagles a low pick. Michael Kendricks salary.. Eagles are shopping him. Guy was a pro bowler 2 years ago in the Eagles 3-4. Salary is little high since we have Vince, but a good young player (26)

8/24/2015: Signed a five-year, $29.896 million contract. The deal contains $16.4 million guaranteed, including an $8 million signing bonus. 2017: $4.85 million, 2018: $5.85 million, 2019: $6.85 million, 2020: Free Agent

You're probably right, $$$ talks

Timmons was born in South Carolina, and Fla State is a LONG way from Miami - Steelers want him back, but only at a "hometown discount"

True, but lots of players like to play close to where they went to school.

Per Aditi K. Phins offering more $$$

Who knew! Of course it's always about the money with these guys. That was my point earlier in the thread mentioned that Timmons wanted to retire a Steeler. His agents and the team were negotiating but apparently not enough $$$ for him so they told him to test the market. So all I'm saying is don't say you want to retire a Steeler but then go on the open market since apparently we didn't offer enough.
He had his big contract and played well but now after 10 years he is slowing down so don't expect another big deal from us.
Of course the Dolphins will wine and dine him by sending their private jet and as you say offering more money because they know what we've offered.Thats what they do throw big money around and lure a guy like Timmons away and then after a season cut them. Just like the Jags, Bucs and others and they never win anything.
Timmons will sign there and frankly don't care since I would not want the Steelers to overpay for him. Just don't say you want to retire here, turn your nose up at what the Steelers want to pay and then go on the market.

Close?

Tallahassee to Miami is 480 miles - farther than from Pittsburgh to Chicago.

Timmons signs with Phins...took the cash. 2 yrs, 12 mil, 11 mil guaranteed.

****. ****. ****. ****.

That's probably $2 million more per year than the Steelers were going to offer.

That's unfortunate; time for Vince to step up. Anyone know if Spence is still available?

Well add ILB to draft board... disappointing.

No surprise here! Dolphins knew what Steelers were offering and just bumped it up. So much for retiring as a Steeler.$$$$$$$$

So much for team loyalty but we weren't even paying the 11 they guaranteed.

I feel like this cuts into our draft board mostly on any offensive players we may have wanted.

Hate to see Timmons go but it is what it is.

I'm sure we will look at Spence for a cheap backup

Vince at ILB is a downgrade and hurts the defense IMO. Timmons was getting worse in coverage but Vince is even worse than Timmons.
