Landry was OK

"Appreciation" might be too strong a word. He did decent for a backup but decent doesn't get it against the Pats**** where you know you have to put up at least 30 points to win. I said before the game that this loss would be on the defense more than the offense.

Yep.

Long sustained drives to keep Mr Bundchen off the field. I think the D did an acceptable job as well.

He wasn't the reason we lost if that's what you are getting at. He had some balls that were dropped or slightly off target. The INT in the end zone hurt us. Not being able to score a second touchdown also hurt.

They moved the ball alot but couldn't score. They had I think it was 7 scoring chances. They had 1 TD, 3 FG's, 2 missed FG's and one INT in the end zone to show for the 7 chances. That just won't do it. Even with Landry, they need to find a way to convert when they get down there and convert, more often than not, TD's. Even Boz was unusually off in the game. The 54 yarder was way off and he almost missed a 3rd FG.

First off I thought he did ok. OK doesn't best the better teams in the league though when our only defense is a good offense. Had the Patsies not dropped all those balls they got their hands on he would've had a really bad stat line and the doors would've been blown off as people would be calling for his head. A ton of check downs and overall lack: of ability to make accurate presnap reads, accurate throws and to look to the 2nd or 3rd option. Again, he was ok...what one expects from a backup QB in a league that doesn't even have 32 legit starters.

I will give Landry this, he was playing a good part of the comeback attempt with a 5th WR and a guy fresh off the ps 2 weeks ago as his main options and an injured AB subbing in and out. The coaching staff repeatedly going empty backfield in 3rd and short situations also seemed like pretty poor strategy. At least start Bell in the backfield and motion him out, but come the hell on. What were we thinking here?

He did enough to keep us in the game. That INT in the end zone killed but so did two missed FG's. It's a tough game to start against the Pats but he did make some decent throws and had a few drops. He also made some poor reads but again he's the backup not starter. If he doesn't throw that pick and we get 3 and our kick hits the other two misses we'd have been in it till the end. Those big plays to Gronk and not stopping Blount was not Jones' fault.

Landry Jones Every Throw vs. Pats

LJ is only good enough to look decent for short periods of time. He will NEVER have games like when Ben just goes off and racks up points like a pin ball machine. And in crunch time, he mostly just implodes like he did in the 4th Q. once again last game.

He just doesn't have "it" even if he can look decent for a drive here and there. The BEST we will be with LJ is a .500 team and that is it. His play also makes the D look worse because he is not getting enough first downs and the D wears out.

Other than the brutal pick on the first drive in my mind he played well enough to have made the game interesting and possibly win it. The big turnarounds in the game were the initial pick in scoring zone and the TD called back followed by the missed field goal. You put those where they should have been and you have an interesting game. However, interesting is not a victory. I had my son's game to go to and after the Pats scored and were up by 11 the Steelers got the ball and I said if they didn't score I was leaving. They didn't get close, but as I was about to leave I saw they got a turnover and were at mid field. They ended up having to take an ill advised and equally bad field goal attempt. That was in no way stellar QB play. Sorry. The bar is low and he cleared it in my mind.

What you have to consider is timing. When it matters most, that is when he makes terrible throws and decisions. He is like Mark Sanchez: He can look decent on some throws, but inevitably, when it matters most, that's when his "loserness" is illuminated. Ben tends to usually be the opposite, as in clutch. Not always, but Ben has the knack of being clutch when it matters most.

Yep. Spent most of the game in Patsies' territory, and have 16 points to show for it?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Sounds like a.....backup. This is true of
Most any of them. He looked better than some starters in this league. I wish folks would stop piling on him. He wasn't that bad. Play calling wasn't great which hurt.

Laundry Jones did just OK. Yes he looked lost a few times and his athletic ability (throws) had some "overcoming" to do. Many here are saying he didn't lose the game but those also need to realize he didn't win the game either.

Salute the nation

Landry was alright, especially when you consider what we've seen from him. He did have the team in position to take the lead, but he threw an interception, probably had two more dropped and was garbage in the fourth.

Surprised me and I didn't see any appreciation threads. We can beat teams with him. I was wr~~~. I was wr~~~~ngh. He did good enough to beat teams if our defense doesn't suck balls like they've done the last two weeks.

Agree for the most part but the lob into the end zone was the game steer. Should have at least gotten 3 there . after that a couple bad calls and we should have won.

He is "ok" but has obvious short comings.

His deep ball accuracy... not so good.
His red zone scoring not so good.
His scrambling ability...not so good.
In the clutch. not so good.

So sure if yinz desire a .500 record when a backup comes in 2+ games...he is what you ordered.

ME I like just a little more than that. Especially with what this O is capable of.

The problem is, we've heard a great deal of hype regarding what this offense is capable of, but the reality is demonstrating something else.

I hate to be the guy who says, hey... The offense is capable of around 24 points a game consistently rather than the 33 or so we are all hoping for, but realistically... well there ya go. Injuries, reality, the way it all works out...

Sorry man.

Backup QB's are hopefully good enough to look decent for a short period of time. And you can count on one hand the starters in the NFL who can run up points like Ben-let alone backups. Look at what teams have done when forced to use backups all year and .500 ain't bad.
