Landry Jones

I would rather have Uncle Rico. He could've taken the team all state. If coach would've just put him in

He could throw a football over them mountains.
Realistically Ben hasn't missed a game in two years (and Bruce hasn't taken but two snaps) so I'm not real concerned about the 3rd string QB.
Upside with Tebow is that he could play H-back or TE if you could talk him into it and you save a roster spot.

He would likely be a better linebacker than the other jones as well.

ah I remember when Ben was labeled "injury Prone" and we had stud (but fragile) backups... them were not the days....

I thought this was a interesting read on another QB possibility to replace Landry dah JayJay.

You do realize, Al Bundy was signed by the PITTSBURGH STEELERS in 1969. He made it till around the third week in july before being cut. I think he was an undrafted defensive end. 4-TDs in one game at Polk High.

Salute the nation

That's my all time favorite show. Still watch it every morning

Eagles - #3 Matt Barkley #4 Tim Tebow

http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football-player-news
ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports Eagles coach Chip Kelly is "increasingly excited" by Tim Tebow, and that Tebow will make the team if he avoids "major errors."
Per Russini, Kelly has been most impressed by Tebow's running, and believes he could be valuable in short-yardage situations. Russini allows that Tebow's infamously bad throwing has been "not perfect." Becoming more of a Bill Belichick-esque iconoclast every season, Kelly could be crazy enough to keep Tebow around.

Damn, if the Eagles cut Matt Barkely, adios Landry Jones. I sign him in a split second to be our #2 and slide Gradkowski to #3/clipboard duty.

Why? Looks like Barkley has thrown 50 passes in the NFL (only 1 last year) and 4 of them for interceptions. He has a 60% completion rate with a rating of 43.8. He has been sacked 3 times and fumbled 3 times (losing 1).

Tells you how I feel about Landry Jones, ark... Yeah, Barkley's still a prospect, hasn't done much yet...my post was more out of frustration than anything. Maybe he isn't better than Jones...

Well, he has more regular season plays than Landry!

I'd rather carry 2 QB's. If they both get hurt, have Bell run the Wild Cat. I don't think we'd be in any worse shape.

Would any of the 32 teams be in OK shape if the third QB had to be in the game for any length of time? The only ones who would are those with outstanding Defenses and/or a good RB who can get yards when the other D knows it is coming. We have the second, but not the first. If you are going to end up putting the ball in Bell's hands the majority of the plays, you might as well hike it directly to him and avoid the possibility of a fumble on the exchange from an inexperienced QB.

In an interview yesterday Colbert talked about the importance of carrying 3 QBs so let's just forget about the idea of using that spot somewhere else

In an article today on Jones with Colbert praising and making excuses for his play this preseason. Colbert is an idiot in this article, why keep 3 QBs on the roster when Jones can and has been able to be on the PS all 3 years?

Pure speculation, but with Colbert making excuses, seems like he may have been the one to push for Jones.

Trade for Mettenberger! Who else better than him to back up Roethlisberger? ;)

Zach Mettenberger - QB - Titans

Zach Mettenberger completed 7-of-9 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' second preseason game.
Mettenberger looked terrific, standing strong in the pocket and attacking windows in the defense with aggressiveness. His second-quarter touchdown pass to TE Chase Coffman was a beauty, threading the needle between two Rams defenders in the back of the end zone. Mettenberger has starter-quality attributes and could eventually become a trade chip. He's signed cheaply through 2017. Mettenberger is 15-of-20 passing for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception through two preseason games.

No - to Barkley (but Tebow is an option - better than Landry)...

Big Zach is another option; but, he, too, IMO is better than Landry.

Perhaps it's time to give Mike Vick a call - because, with no C - at least we'll have a QB that can run for his life - if Ben goes____

You were on a roll till you got to Vick after that you were on a biscuit.

I'd rather keep Laundry than have Vick. Maybe he is just beginning to show what the guys thought he could be when they drafted him. He and Jarvis might be late developers but could turn out better than many of us thought they would. I will be interested to see if the decent game by the guys continues. I could not see it but did catch some of it on steelers radio via the computer.

I would give up a 2rd to get Mettenberger - not even kidding. He is locked up through 2017 at less than 1mil a year.

Case Keenum 19 of 33 247yds and a TD through two games

Tebow can run, and that's it. He's a decent fit for Chip's offense. Not for the Steelers. Too bad the Jets got Flynn.

I would love to trade for Mettenberger. I know I'm probably gonna get blasted for this, but what about Vick for a backup?
My long term plan to pick up in a year or two is Cardale Jones from OSU. Would be the perfect guy to take over from Ben down the road.

Sorry Bermuda, just read your Vick comment after I posted. I also don't think Tebow would be bad. He's MUCH better than Jones, and arguably better than Bruce.
I understand Vick's not a long term answer, but if Ben were to go down this year, we have nothing!

Vick would be a disaster, even as a temporary backup. Agree would rather have Jones. Who let the dogs out? Whoop, whoop whoop (too soon?)
