Landry Jones

He has also played a ton with scrubs all his career. Doubt if he has ever taken a snap with the starters other than in practice.

There is a thread here about how James Harrison wouldn't let his kids keep "participation" trophies. Deebo basically said he didn't want his boys thinking that you should get rewarded for just doing your best and not earning the award. Extrapolating that to the Landry situation: Maybe Landry hasn't taken any snaps with the starters in games because he hasn't shown enough to EARN snaps with the starters. Should they just let him work with the starters when he can't consistently put his passes where they need to be when playing with the scrubs? And the first time he gets AB or Bryant laid the out/clobbered/hurt with one of his wide/high/sinkerballs ... then what?

After watching some of the Texans game last night and seeing how Tom Savage (the Pitt ex) has progressed, I think he's better than Landry Jones.

Keenum of the Rams also is better than Jones. But I think Fisher likes him more than Austin Davis for Foles' backup.

I was looking at rosters this morning as the GF was still asleep.

Hard to tell if a team will carry two or three. But there is some interesting possibilities out there.

crossing the fingers and toes in hope one comes in by the end of camp....

but that might be wishful thinking on my part

Um he played the whole HOF game, and we did not rest all the starters there. Im pretty sure you do not need to have Bell and Brown out there to look a little bit like a NFL QB.

there is also this debunking his theory

if Jones had less talent to work with he arguably had less talent on D to face.

Where other backups in preseason manage to put together drives. Jones fails the majority of the time.

You can dress up a turd, put a necktie on it and shove it in your Bentley.

But at the end of the day it still is a piece of ****.

The 4th was burned on shamarko, not Landry

Starting to look like it doesn't matter what name you attach to the pick ... it was bad.

When he goes in as a back up will he be playing with back ups or the starters? A real evaluation would be to see what he does behind the starting line and with all the weapons. In order to get him ready he needs to practice with the starters for that game. Then we will really see what he can do in the role of a back up. I expect he will still suck.

we traded to get an extra pick to take either shamarko or laundry and burned the 4th on one of them. Burned seems to be the operable word here. Was this the same draft that we took jj as well?

The trade up was for Thomas. Not that it matters much. Jones was taken 4 spots later. And yes it was the same draft as Jarvis Jones.

Vader you beat me to it I was working on this when it logged me out. Thanks.

In looking at that draft we have one star Bell, one player that looks good, Wheaton, a good back up in Vince Williams. The jury is still out on S. Thomas who cost us a third the following year. and we lost Nick Williams from our practice squad to another team who might have been worth more than laundry jones in the big scheme of things. Had we not decided to trade for Thomas is it likely we could have gotten him 4 spots later and had the third round pick the next year? In hind sight it does not seem like it matters as neither he nor laundry has been worth much so far. Vince Williams has been a better player so far than everyone taken above him not named Bell or Wheaton so to say there was nothing as an alternative is a bit off.

It was only 2 years ago, yet many fans still can't remember correctly.

It just seems longer. Experience something pleasant and time flies by. Put up with something unpleasant and time seems to crawl. This is the equivalent of going to a dentist that is out of Novocain.

To rely on Laundry to bail us out, is a very risky move. I say bring in a camp cut, work them both out head to head 1st team, in practice. New guy will win. End of discussion. At least there would be upside, long term. Laundry doesn't seem to have it.

My god we're ****** if Ben goes down.

Bruce was looking pretty accurate in the drill at camp today.

I think he would be ok short term...............

Good news as this will put laundry down a notch. UNFORTUNATELY, this may allow laundry to keep on the roster.
