Kinkhabwala: TJ Watt Extension ‘Very, Very Close’

It’s been the question on the mind of Pittsburgh Steelers fans since the beginning of the new league year. When will TJ Watt sign his new contract? Well its now currently September, and we’re days away from the Steelers kicking off their season in Buffalo against the Bills. There basically hasn’t been any update on the matter.

But NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala touched on the subject today on their broadcast.

I’ve been told that they are very, very, close for weeks now and there certainly a feeling that this is indeed going to get done,” Kinkhabwala said.

Now it just needs to get done. Watt needs to get back into the team sessions. Even if its just for the week leading up to the game. He needs that little bit of contact that they will do. He needs to get the vibe with his new teammates.

“The issue here is that TJ. Watt, as hard as he has worked, because lets make no mistake about this. TJ Watt has been at every single practice, has has done every single drill, he did at every walkthrough, in every meeting, he has not actually done any team drills. He has not done any live hitting.”

Watt posted a photo of him signing a terrible towel onto his instagram story last night. We all are holding out hope that thats a sign of things to come with him putting pen to paper for his new contract.
