Evidently your boy Tomlin and Ron Rivera don't understand it either, since a quick review of the final preseason game between the Steelers and Panthers indicated that out of the 9 kickoffs in the game, 8 were touchbacks and the single one that wasn't was a squib kick with five seconds left in the first half.

But keep bringing it up like you know what the hell you're talking about.

Evidently your boy Tomlin and Ron Rivera don't understand it either, since a quick review of the final preseason game between the Steelers and Panthers indicated that out of the 9 kickoffs in the game, 8 were touchbacks and the single one that wasn't was a squib kick with five seconds left in the first half.

It's the final preseason game, like you said. Everyone who wants a job in the NFL is now trying to showcase what they can do, and that includes kickers. Putting the ball through the back of the end zone is a skill set coaches are wanting today. The coaches allow those guys to play that game out. All starters are out, or play for a short series, and the guys on the fence get a shot to show what they can do.

In the earlier preseason games it's about seeing where your starter are at, along with how your rookies and UDFAs respond to the game plan and the game speed. So, typically coaches have the kickers keep it short of the end zone to see kick returners work along with special teams players ability to block and make plays.

Jacksonville must be laughing at us. A 2.5 million cap hit sucks and blown 6th round pick sucks, but throwing away your season is worse. We need to find better now.

If you ask me we could have had Scobee without a trade.

The kicking situation was historically bad on Sunday.

In the wake of Josh Scobee losing his job because of a chronic aversion to making field goals, three kickers missed multiple tries during the early afternoon slate, putting their job security in serious jeopardy.

When the dust settled following the early slate of games Sunday, 11 kicks were missed, with the league (including Scobee on Thursday) going 33-of-44 on field goals.

Kyle Brindza, Buccaneers

Sunday: 1-for-3 FGs, 2-of-3 XPs
Season: 50 percent FGs, 75 percent XPs

Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Kyle Brindza missed two field goals and then, to top it off, an extra-point in the fourth quarter. He is having a horrible season and it's hard to believe Lovie Smith will stick with the Notre Dame product beyond this week.

Jason Myers, Jaguars

Sunday: 2-for-4 FGs, 1-for-1 XPs
Season: 70 percent FGs, 100 percent XPs

Missed field goals began spreading like some type of super virus, with the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Jason Myers pushing a potentially game-winning kick to the right - but wait! The Indianapolis Colts called a time out. Sweet redemption? Not exactly, as Myers missed the do-over and another potential game-winner in overtime and the Colts won.

Myers - a rookie - may get another game to figure it out, but he could have a short professional career if he continues to miss big kicks.

Caleb Sturgis, Eagles

Sunday: 0-for-1 FGs, 0-for-1 XPs

Newly signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, Caleb Strugis missed a field goal and extra-point as Philadelphia struggled once again, losing to the Washington Redskins. Sturgis was signed because Cody Parkey tore his hamstring, so he's on a short leash as the Eagles try and keep their season afloat.

The Replacements

With kickers regressing to - and way below - the mean in Week 4, free agents Kai Forbath, Giorgio Tavecchio, and Connor Barth will likely be flying around the country for tryouts this week. Recently cut Randy Bullock will also get some looks.

Brindza, Sturgis, and Myers may be in the most trouble, but Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan said - following a 24-10 loss to the New York Giants in which kicker Dan Carpenter missed a 30-yard field goal - that the team would "look at everything" when trying to figure out their kicking situation.

Right. Kickers only get touchbacks at the certain times during the preseason which help your side of the argument.

I would imagine that the final preseason game would actually be the most likely time a coach would want to see how his special teamers on the bubble might perform in kickoff coverage. Those are the guys who are much more on the fence and fighting for the last few precious roster spots than the kickers themselves. Just a theory.

Did you happen to watch any of the preseason games? You know when Scobee would kick one out of the endzone and then the next kick it would be around the 5-10 range? But ya Idk what I'm talking about.

Yes, I did happen to watch all of the preseason games. And no, I didn't remember Scobee alternating kickoffs in that manner. So, I decided to check it out, and sure enough, here's what I found:

Scobee kicked off a grand total of six times in the preseason, three times against Jacksonville in the second game, and three times against Carolina in the final game. ALL SIX OF THOSE KICKOFFS RESULTED IN TOUCHBACKS.

So, ya, ydk wtf you're talking about.

Please just stop pulling **** out of your ***. It just makes you look more and more foolish. Do yourself and all of us a favor, and do a little research first.
