We are the exact opposite of some of our old teams. We use go 20 to 20 but settled for fgs. Now we are doing that to opposing teams. Can't say enough about Tomlin and his staff. Tons of injuries and still playing at a high level. Hope to keep it up all season.

Well, we beat up some bad teams (Jets, Skins) got pummeled by a good team (Eagles) and beat two decent teams (KC and Cinci) . Way to early to know how good this team is.

Let's see how we fare with the Pats before we get too convinced we are world beaters.

That's 3 playoff teams from last year and the Jets were one game out of the playoffs. We can only play who is on the schedule. Nobody said one word about being world beaters. I made the point that we have done a complete 180 from what we use to do. So keep slobbering on your Pats. I'll keep rooting for my Steelers.

Good thing is we are not playing down to our competition, but the teams we have beat are pretty bad. Cincy is 2-3, Jets 1-4, KC 2-2, Wash 3-2. We got throttled by the 3-1 Eagles who lost to detriot. Should beat Miami easily then we get three tough ones. Pats, Ravens, and Dallas. I dont see this D doing well against the Pats. Only time we beat Brady is when we lined up tight and went after the receivers. Our pass rush is improving, but still not good and Brady owns us, and gets rid of the ball extremely quick. I would play tight man with back up zones only rush 2-3 players. Our offense will have to score a lot. Its possible to win, but not very likely. Ravens are not good and we should win easily, but we know how that goes after last year. As for Dallas we already lost to one rookie QB and Dak is playing well so should be an interesting game. As for the rest of the schedule we have andrew luck and eli manning which could present problems, but neither team is that great. I think 12-4 is a reasonable expectation.

For most of us, if we don't look like world beaters, it's another wasted season. This team has the goal of winning another ring, period. If we can't beat the Pats, that won't be good enough. You must not understand the mentality of Steeler Nation. Also, every year half the playoff teams of the previous year do not make the playoffs in the current season. So citing us beating playoff teams of last year isn't an iron clad way to summize how good a team is or not.

wasn't there a game where we had a bunch of defenders standing at the line where you couldn't tell who was rushing and who was dropping back?

Your Pats**** schedule and who they beats to date has been nothing special with or without Brady. Every team with a decent record to this point has played some bad teams. Just how it is.

Plus, the Pats loss was to a bad team.

One more aspect of STEELR NATION pops forgot to mention.

**** the Cheatriots

Salute the nation

I would feel better if we had beaten Philly.

We need a clandestine intel gathering operation like the pats*** have and our very own rainman. We will win the division and go deep in the playoffs for years. Just kidding **** those cheats. Just bring back hitting and things will work themselves out.

I think the Steelers are one of the best five teams in the NFL, however, we have not beaten a team that has a playoff spot as of this week. The one team we played that would be in the playoffs today blew our doors off.

So are we a world beater among the tier two and three teams, that loses more often that not to say the best 8-12 teams in football?

As long as Ben keeps playing like the MVP, we will be fine. But he's got a lot of weight on hsi shoulders as the defense is by no means good enough to " win " a game where the offense isn't having a good day vs a playoff level type of team.

Having said that, 5-1 is very likely!

yeah, yeah, yeah..weren't we told that the Red Rocket and Smith were going to tear our D a new one? Now? Meh, those teams aren't that good.

Tomlin has been developing the back ups better these past three seasons. Sometimes the back up talent exceeds the starter. Steelers have depth now. The team is gelling together too which is cool to see

My opinion is the opposite. It's his job to get the best players on the field. When your backup outplays the veteran, you were tardy on the promotion. It's one of Tomlin's bad traits.

Taking Vince Willaims, who playing like a pro bowl ILB recently off the field in favor of Timmons, would be a mistake on most down and distances.

All except for Philly have averaged more points per game than they scored against the Steelers Cin and NYJ only 2 more points while KC and WAS about 4 points. Philly has averaged 7 points less per game than they scored against the Steelers

I think it's fair to say Pittsburgh had a **** day in Philly. Wheaton dropped a couple critical balls. What, 6 guys got hurt, 4 of them on defense that day?

While I prefer a more aggressive defensive style myself, I have to admit the new philosophy has actually been pretty effective. For the most part points haven't come until late in the game until the point when they are often throw-away points anyway. This defense is doing better than the numbers actually indicate. That's nice for a change.

That doesn't mean I want to depend on them to heavily. Clearly this team is all about the offense and how it goes. For the first time in forever the Steelers have Pouncey, DeCastro, Bell, Williams, Brown, Ben and a couple of emerging receivers as well as a tight end eager to prove himself.

The arrow definitely seems to be pointing up.

The Philly loss may have been the BEST thing to happen in a LONG time. It made a lot of young and talented Steeler players realize that press clippings and media tweets about you "being a SuperBowl contender" means nothing when you get on the field and play. You've got to man up AND execute to win.

I despise the Patriots BUT watch their play week in and out and they execute and play tough, no matter what.

The players need to focus and work.

I am extremely proud that they showed up to play when KC came into town and kept that focus for the Jets.

Miami is next. Forget Miami's record.

Show up prepared to battle another NFL team in an away game.
