kenny PICKett

I'm happy with Kenny's play today..
Made some good throws and a few bad ones BUT, he wasn't a deer-in-the-headlights in his first NFL start, playing from behind.
Was able get out of a collapsing pocket and use his legs to the advantage. Seemed to give a boost to the team ( albeit temporary) and clearly made the offense somewhat better than under Trubisky. If the defense had played better Steelers would have won this game.
Most rookies thrown in to a game with the OL/D issues would have fared MUCH worse.
If Kenny keeps it up, I think we have a bright future...

The bad pick was set up by JV playcalling. They had the A gap run game going and just threw the game away with toss. To a rookie no less.

The defense also didn't get a stop against Zach Wilson. They are allowed to make a play.

Aside from the INTs, can anyone explain why they rushed the snap after the long play to Pickens? The rushed play led to the bad short toss play to Warren. Why not milk the clock some more before snapping the ball? A simple run up the middle and the second interception never happens.
 
He's like a child who breaks his toys in a tantrum then tearfully looks to see what daddy's going to do..
 
So the throw to Muth that was pick was supposed to be thrown away… he was just trying to get rid of it with pressure bearing down on him.. he said he wasn’t trying to get it to Pat at all…

There are two big reasons to commit to Pickett for the rest of the season.

1. The offense stinks. Mitch didn't lead the Steelers to a TD in the first half and they scored 4 TDs in 3.5 games with him under center. Just see what the rookie can do.
2. This one may be more important. The Steelers are on their way to a top 5 pick or higher unless they significantly improve their play. There are two pretty good QB prospects at the top of the draft and if you establish Pickett isn't it, you have to find a way to get Young or Stroud.

You can’t be surprised. You, know out of all the players, coordinators and coaches, there are things that do not change no matter how badly a change is needed, and to me that falls on the one constant for the last decade and a half.

New D coordinator and an assistant that has been a head coach, defensive coordinator that has won championships. Defense has the same problems.

New offensive coordinator. Again. Same ****** offense that can’t sustain drives, score points and run down the clock.

Tomlin’s fingerprints are all over this team and it isn’t good, and hasn’t been for several seasons. It starts with him.

This team has plenty of talent. The coaching staff is lacking, and I don’t see how it improves until Mike Tomlin is finished in Pittsburgh.

I agree w/ all this. You also cant believe a word tomlin says. He said there would be no QB change and mitch only lasted a half. I dont see any way Pickett doesnt play going forward. The line is playing better and Pickett seems to give the team energy at least. I still dont think Mitch is the problem, but the team is flat with him in there.

Tomlin's only good teams is when he is stacked with talent. He had a loaded defense that carried over from Cowher. They rebuilt the OL and had Ben, AB, and Bell and had a dominant offense. However, when his teams haven't had elite talent, they've struggled to perform, either slipping into the playoffs or finishing around .500. I haven't seen a head coach or staff to elevate mediocre talent into a good team or good talent into a great team. They have three elite players right now and one is hurt.
 
You put Pickett in during game 4 of the season, he is your QB1 the rest of the way. No musical chairs Tomlin. Don't beat around the bush and say he isn't the starter. We aren't winning with Canaduh and Trubisky. The best show we have is with Pickett. He and Pickens love those back shoulder throws.
