Keith Butler to Take Over as Linebackers Coach

More of the same result next season
 
You move on from a coach and have the opportunity to bring in a young, up and coming defensive mind with some new ideas to maybe groom into a future DC. No, instead you stick with your DC (and HC) and a defense that has communication issues far too often and gets the plays too late.

HC Mike Tomlin to take over DC duties. It is noted that Keith Butler was kept on the payroll should Coach Tomlin have any question.

I'm thinking next year won't even be worth the emotional investment. I may sit this next one out. We ALL know next season will be a massive disappointment.

Don't let the door hit yaz where the good lord split yaz.................... I'm for watching and waiting to actually see what happens. I think cool shades is more motivated than ever so we will see how that translates to field. I'm disappointed we didn't get a new DC, from out of organization hire. Interesting off season as to who is brought in all have factors on "D" performance. COACHING would definitely have a factor.

Unless they knock it out of the park in Free Agency and the Draft, I'm prepping myself for a below-the-line season. They still have the AB mess to work out and if he is traded, that production and threat is gone on offense.
Putting all the defensive eggs in Tomlin and Butler's hands could be the beginning of the end for those two. My optimism is quite low right now on the defensive side of the ball. They need to turn it around.
 
Perfect scenario for Tomlin wouldn't you say? Hell, if the defense fails to improve in 2019 and continues to blow leads in the 4th quarter, you have the perfect scapegoat in Butler. Of course if by miracle the defense improves it will be Tomlin receiving credit with people saying he runs the defense. Can't lose for Tomlin. I don't expect improvement on the defense regardless of what talent we add because it will be the same stupid scheme run by Tomlin.

First... The article states clearly what we all know but should be very concerned about - Tomlin takes a very active role in setting the defense and calling defensive plays during games. In short, So Very Much of the defensive failings fall on Tomlin.

Second... They spend 75% to 80% of the game in "sub packages" and only 20% of the game in their "base defense, 3-4". That says to me you Dumb Mothefucker (Coach T) that the 3-4 is NOT their base defense. The base defense now is probably a 2-3-6, you know the dumbest defensive alignment EVER for teams with a power running back.

Oh how I wish Tomlin would figure out all the **** he sucks at and let some ************ who knows that the **** he or she is doing DO their ******* Job!
 
This is MT’s way of having an excuse to keep Butler after his contract runs out. Don’t renew him as DC, but retain as LB coach. Soften the blow.

I say trade Brown, Ben, Haden, and Connor for draft picks in 2021.....keep Tomlin for two years and then fire Tomlin and draft Lawrence with the first pick and win multiple SBs with him and meanwhile tune into Ben's radio show +whichever team he's on) and listen to how he's got 57 injuries but played anyway and how he he lives every teammate but throws them under the bus in the locker room
