**** the Browns, Mahomes went out with like 9 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. They got the ball back with 8 minutes left in the game, and some how ****** it up and moved the ball 12 whole yards in 4 minutes, then punted. All I'm hearing is how they got screwed on the touch back fumble. I didn't hear an out cry when Grimble did that vs Denver a few years back, but suddenly that rule needs changed.

I was thinking tweak to say the recovering party gets the result. If the D recovered they get the ball if the O they get the TD.

Huh? the rule comes into effect when the ball is fumbled and rolls into the endzone and out of bounds without being recovered by either team

Cleveland's fortunate that it wasn't an even bigger deficit before they started inching their way back into the game. And no, the rule won't be changed. We hear that bullshit every single time this happens to a team, but the NFL never changes it, it's been in the rule book for a long time. And personally, I'm fine with it. Don't wanna fumble out of the endzone? Then secure the ball. The only way I'd be okay with a rule change, is if they fumbling team got to keep the ball, but had to go ALLLL the way back to their own 20 or 25 yard line and start over. **** giving it to the fumbling team at their opponent's 1-yard line, that's BS.

but in your scenario, what if it was 4th and goal from the 2 and they go for it but fumble through the endzone. If you give them the ball back that is still a reward.

The rule is tough, but the defense did it's job and knocked the ball loose. Giving it back to the offense is just rewarding a mistake.

It can't be. If we keep taking rules outA the game it becomes NOT the game. The NFL is on the verge of that as we speak. ST isn't the factor it once was, defense is less and less so you see where I'm coming from. KEEP it as is and we keep a part of the game intact as it was meant to be.

Yep, and now having read what you posted, that rule takes away from scoring points, so it'll probably be looked at this offseason.

Some coaches have a “ no diving for the goal line” policy for this very reason... defenses in that area are ultra aggressive for causing fumbles...

The only time it comes into play is if you fumble outside the end zone and it goes out of bounds... it happens so rarely that its a non story

The Browns got beat by a better team. The Browns will not make the playoffs next year so i hope they enjoyed it...
