Justin Blackmon Arrested
By Joseph Zucker , Featured Columnist Dec 21, 2015
According to the Carter County (Oklahoma) Sheriff's Office, Justin Blackmon was arrested on Dec. 19 on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Black Sports Online posted Blackmon's mugshot following his arrest:
Michael DiRocco of ESPN reported Blackmon "refused breathalyzer test; was cooperative until being booked; refused to give phone number and became angry," according to the police report.
The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver hasn't played in an NFL game since 2013, which is when his troubles began.
He earned a four-game suspension from the NFL to start the 2013 regular season following a second violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. Later that year, the league suspended him indefinitely after another violation—a punishment that forced Blackmon to apply for reinstatement in order to get back in the NFL.
In July 2014, Blackmon was arrested on and later pleaded no contest to charges of marijuana possession. Before his no-contest plea, he checked into a 90-day treatment facility.
In January, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan planned on Blackmon's being a part of the team for 2015.
"I'm very optimistic. I think he's paid his dues," Khan said in an interview with Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. "I think he's got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We're waiting for him."
However, Blackmon's appeal for reinstatement was denied, meaning he'd have to spend another year out of the league. FoxSports.com's Alex Marvez also reported the Jaguars wouldn't allow Blackmon to play in the Canadian Football League while his NFL career was on hold.
Any chance of a return to the field for Blackmon is likely over following his most recent arrest.
