Justin Blackmon Arrested

According to the Carter County (Oklahoma) Sheriff's Office, Justin Blackmon was arrested on Dec. 19 on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Black Sports Online posted Blackmon's mugshot following his arrest:

Michael DiRocco of ESPN reported Blackmon "refused breathalyzer test; was cooperative until being booked; refused to give phone number and became angry," according to the police report.

The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver hasn't played in an NFL game since 2013, which is when his troubles began.

He earned a four-game suspension from the NFL to start the 2013 regular season following a second violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. Later that year, the league suspended him indefinitely after another violation—a punishment that forced Blackmon to apply for reinstatement in order to get back in the NFL.

In July 2014, Blackmon was arrested on and later pleaded no contest to charges of marijuana possession. Before his no-contest plea, he checked into a 90-day treatment facility.

In January, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan planned on Blackmon's being a part of the team for 2015.

"I'm very optimistic. I think he's paid his dues," Khan said in an interview with Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. "I think he's got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We're waiting for him."

However, Blackmon's appeal for reinstatement was denied, meaning he'd have to spend another year out of the league. FoxSports.com's Alex Marvez also reported the Jaguars wouldn't allow Blackmon to play in the Canadian Football League while his NFL career was on hold.

Any chance of a return to the field for Blackmon is likely over following his most recent arrest.

he would look SUPERB in a Saints uni.

This is a problem for both him and the NFL. I don't understand why the NFL wouldn't reinstate ANYONE after a year hiatus from the league. A year off is enough for Pot, you don't need to make it 2, now this kid's depression is likely fueling his dependency, and I doubt that cycle will ever be broken. It's a sad story IMHO.

i read that when he was in the draft, one of the teams that was considering him, hired a private investigator to follow him around. He saw that every day Blackmon went to a bar in the afternoon, alone. They crossed him off their list.

99.99% of the time, I see these stories, and give a rat's ***. "Just another athlete not smart enough to protect the lottery ticket he has."

This one bothers me though. For any of you who saw the ESPN special that aired about him and the little girl Olivia Hamilton that was battling for her life (leukemia), you saw a good young man. He was at OSU at the time, and he was her hero. She gave him wrist bands, he wore them forever (I think through the Draft, as a Jaguar, etc). It was touching and he and she became real close. Wasn't a one time thing - they stayed tight for a long time. They may still be, I dunno.

I've been tracking his troubles. I was rooting for him. I still am. I hope he turns it around.

As I tell my kids, my wife, etc, you can't just label people good and bad. All of us are a mix of both. We've already seen that there's a great young man inside. Sadly his disease is winning the war. I wish him the best in overcoming those demons.

Here's a nice article about him: http://jacksonville.com/opinion/blo...renette-justin-blackmon-true-hero-little-girl
